For talk about JKR's Rubbish Bin section, where JKR dishes the dirt and disposes of the debris. (In other words, she tells the truth.)

I'm really curious about that tree in the upper right corner of the rubbish bin page--it looks like a reverse family tree, almost. The top has Harry and Hermione (I'm pretty sure it's Hermione, not Voldemort, because the first letter matches the H in Harry) connected to Ron. Below that is Sirius Black. And below that it gets really interesting. There are three names visible, one of them is crossed out, one of them is Hagrid, and one of them is  Potter. What's this tree about? It could be different generations of Hogwarts students who are connected somehow--but what's the link, and whose name was crossed out and why? Any thoughts?

I, also, have been trying to figuer out that "family tree" for ages. I've looked at it on two different computers, but to no avail.  I think some of it is scraps from her notes. Probably nothing spoilery. This is JKR's site, after all. I think she just loves to watch us scramble! (I mean that in the nicest way, of course! )

i've seen it too, but i think that it will be nonsensical to us until we are revealed the truth... and in retrospect it will make sense, like the half blood prince title... there was a scrap of paper for a long time that had a partial title... but what does a part of it mean and especially when we have nothing to link it to.

You're right, of course--at some point we'll get the context and it'll all make sense, but until then there's no way to know what it really means. But until that "A-ha!" moment comes, I'll continue to puzzle over these tantalizing tidbits--the agony and the ecstasy of being a Harry Potter fanatic, I guess.

The rubbish bin is actually one of my favourite sections. Anyone who has to read the turgid rubbish that the British Media constantly print, (the one about her cousin claiming inspiration for Harry was a particular favourite of mine), can sing a song every time Jo debunks one of it's stories.

This way, we know the truth.

I mean, her cousin was even sad enough to pose for photos wearing Harry glasses. He's in his 30s for heavens sake!!!!

Well, apparently he spent his childhood in a closet at the house of an abusive aunt and uncle, so it is understandable. wink.gif

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

But I'm glad she has a way to defend herself. She obviously can't comment in media all the time, but this way anyone interested can find out the truth. The sad thing is, people interested in that kind of stuff probably won't bother to check her site.

Oh my word, my timing is brilliant. I posted yesterday about Jo debunking a claim by her relative and today Leaky have a story about him planning to go on tv and take a lie detector test.

How desperate is this man, and who do we believe, someone who has asked Jo for money, or Jo herself?

:ponder: Hhhmmm, it's a tough one isn't it!! I just feel sorry for Jo having relatives like this.
