Perhaps this will inspire you, since I was Britta Skeeter for my Book 5 party... (yes, Britta rhymes with Rita, NOT the water filter!)

Yes, there is miniscule writing on the acid-green quill that says "Quick Quotes" along with self-stick plastic jewels added to the authentic cat-eye glasses that were my mom's in highschool!
My original plan was to design an elaborate bright turquoise crushed velvet robe with shiny matching blazer-like lapels, but then I found that hideous bathrobe with magenta leopard print lapels for only $7! I swear it jumped off the rack yelling "RITA SKEETER!" The fake crocodile handbag was at the same thriftstore for $2! The glittery dress underneath I already had in my closet. I still have all the turquoise fabric I bought sitting there unused...heh!
Hope that helps!
Thanks! Britta

I found an easy way to make a cloak, if you are not looking to spend lots of $. What my friends and I did, was we took black/dark blue cloaks, and layed them on the floor. We took rope/string and layed that accross the blanket, about 1-2 ft from the edge. We then folded that part of the cloak over the string. We took the two ends of the rope and tied it around my neck. This makes an easy cloak, that is cost free!
An easy and inexpensive way to make a wand, is to find a cheep stick outside, then cover one end with brightly colored string. (It helps if the string has a patern, and metalic string looks great too!)

James_and_Lily, There are two kinds of iron-on transfer paper... one is transparent and shows the fabric color underneath and the other is made for colored fabric so it is white and opaque. I have used both for patches on robes. The first one I ironed onto white fabric first, cut that out to make a patch, and then used fusible web (WonderUnder) to iron that onto the robe. Then I found the white opaque kind and it worked just fine too, but was shinier than the one on the white fabric. I actually liked to the first method better, even though it invoved two steps. I also discovered that I could peel it off for washing the robe and then iron it back on.
Mrs.Figgx10 I'm not sure if cut cardboard would feel very good either :conf:... maybe you could find an old style pair of big sunglasses and take out the lenses?
