Has anyone read this series, I'm thinking of giving it a go but just wanted to know if anyone else likes them.  I haven't found anyone in person whose read them yet.  (but I also am fishing in a rather shallow pool I hate to say....)

Yep, I've read them. They're really good, original, quirky and funny. The characters are really good too. I'd definitely recommend them especially if you like humour. I'm kinda suprised you haven't found anyone who's read them actually, I thought they were pretty popular. Most people I know who read them seemed to like them anyway. Thumbs up to Eoin Colfer, give 'em a try!

I highly recommend the series as well.  I picked it up last year out of interest in seeing it lots of classrooms, and found it very enjoyable.  So much so that I bought all four volumes through Scholastic's book orders.

It's a good series of adventures if you enjoy SF/Fantasy (as I do) and mystery/adventure.

Fantastic series, mostly because Artemus reamains me of myself. I can only say that I love them. Science, elfs, magic, it is brilliant. I can not any more than it is brilliant.

Took a test one of these days, turns out to have a personality that is 95% of Hermione and 90% Snape. That must be the perfect character.
I am a wizard the Norwegian Minstery of Magic have forgotten
Physics would be Hermione's favourite subject, at least it is mine.

Very fantastical. I enjoyed them. A lot of dwarves and other odd fantasy creatures, but that's what I liked about them. I read them all.

I've just started Artemis Fowl, and I'm enjoying it so far - I love the fantasy aspect of the series, and the humour is good.  I need to invest in the new one (The Opal Deception) as well ... and add that to my list of books to read! biggrin.gif

I LOVED this series.. Colfer is brilliant with his creation of Artemis' world, and all the characters within. I love Holly, she's so out there, and apparently there's a bit of Artemis in me... strange. My fave in the series has to be the Opal Deception, due to random quirkiness, and the others are superb as well. I definitely recommend them for any sci-fi/fantasy fanatic looking for light reading to waste away hours...

Well, although you are already convinced just wanted to throw in an elfs opinion for what it's worth! I am on the third book in the series (Eternity Code) and I love them! I am going to be an elementary school teacher so I try to read lots of children's literature. (Or at least that's the reason I give, secretly I just love kiddie lit.) Anyways, I picked up the first book to read it and ended up addicted to the series. I am usually not that much of a fantasy person (Aside from HP of course) but I adore this series. I highly recommend them.
