I haven't seen another thread on this, so you might be safe.
I first read 9 of the books about two years ago. I hadn't gotten my hands on a copy of the 10th before I had forgotten most of what happened in the others, so now, I'm rereading them. I'm in the middle of #2.
Favourite characters: I don't know. I like most all of them in the first book or two, but then they get all wierd and have issues. I do still like Perrin and Mat. I sort of like Min, but she's changed a lot as well.

QUOTE(zacz @ May 22 2006, 04:34 AM) I only recently read these books. I was hooked at once and now I've read all eleven books as well as the prequale(sp?). I find that my favourite character changes from book to book. In the last (eleventh) book I found Egwene to be my favourite which surprised me as she had really annoyed me in previous ones. Many people on the internet said they found the originally loved the books but then found the more recent ones boring. I disagree, I was completely taken in by the world created in the story. I can't wait till the 12th and final book is released, though it unfortunately dosn't look like appening any time soon. I admit to being one of the people whose opinion of the series has changed from the beginning of the series to the end. I absolutely loved the series for the first 4 or 5 books; it was actually probably my favorite series ever. As it went on, Jordan seemed to get bogged down in the huge cast of characters he created, and in one of the books, I think the 9th, the time span covered in the plot from the beginning of the book to the end was incredibly short, considering the size of the novel. This meant that very little real progression was made driving the plot forward, and I found this quite frustrating. I actually haven't read the latest one because of this, but will probably get around to it sometime in the near future. I'd love to see that tale resolved finally, and hope that he is able to do this with the 12th volume.
Those of you who enjoy this series and are looking for something similar, should check out the series A Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin. He creates a completely different world full of a huge cast of characters that are all very richly drawn, and the tale is epic in its scale. There are 4 books in the series so far - A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows. Each is as good as the last, with great character and plot development driving the story forward.

Ah good Leaky needs a Wheel of Time thread! I definatly think this series is good, despite the apparently slowness of plot in the later books. The last book Memory of Light is being written now and probably will come out around the same time as Jo's Book 7. Next year is going to be an amazing one.
I want to see what my fellow Potterites think of this old Question:
Who killed Asmodean? PM if you wish to discuss I don't want to spoil new readers to the series
