Please tell us why a website is your favorite. If this thread is simply lists of websites, it will be closed.

QUOTE
Leaky Rule #10. Make sure your topic adds something to the discussion. When starting a thread, it's important that it can be the springboard for an actual discussion. Starting with "I luv Dan Radcliffe!" or "Yo those HP moviez, they stink yo," isn't going to get you very far. "Game" threads will be closed.

Thanks!

Besides this site of course, my favorite site is probably ESPN.com. What makes me appreciate one site over another is really ease of use, presentation, and content. ESPN is very easy to use and find what one is looking for. In addition, I have read many different sports columnists from different papers, magazines and websites, but ESPN really has the best group for different perspectives and national content. It's also easier to avoid being beat over the head with whatever program they are trying to push on the website than it is watching the channel itself.

For local I prefer the Detroit Free Press' site as opposed to the Detroit News. The News is just too crowded, and doesn't draw one in. Their content is usually better, at least for prep sports, but the site itself is not pleasant.

Mlive is another good site. It is only ok for news and information, but it has some lively forums for people in Michigan. The sports forums are the ones I look at most often.

Besides Leaky I like HPANA for HP News

And I also like National Geographic Traveler's Website and the Trip Advisor Forums for travel information that is a little more in-depth than your typical travel ad

and for art sites I like Artchive, the Met's website, Chicago Art Institute's site and Tate Online

and I like Amazon for the reviews

I gotta say Play.com is really good for buying cheap stuff like games, books and CDs or anything suchlike. It's all so cheap and arrives ded quickly biggrin.gif

And weebls-stuff.com is so funny for passing time, if you're in the right mood for it. Trev Rocks! That's all I've got to say ;o)

Livejournal.com, it's rather an addiction of mine, hehe. I love being able to keep up with my friends' lives (I've lived in three different cities so far so it's lovely to know what people I used to be friends with in real life but who I'd rarely see otherwise are up to day-to-day) & being able to meet new people & find out about their lives. Things like Myspace are quite fun too, but a bands list & a few paragraphs about yourself isn't going to say as much as an online journal does. ^_^

Also, last.fm, another site I'm pretty addicted to: I *love* music, & my taste in it is really rather eclectic, so I like having somewhere where people can go to see what I'm listening to day-to-day, rather than a list where I've just picked favourites or what I'm listening to most recently. I guess the appeal is the same as LJ, both sites encompass more about peoples' lives than regular old profile sites where you can have a few things & then risk the thing looking like War and Peace *grin*

I have lots of favourite websites, but one of my favourites has always been the BBC website; it's an absolute mine of information. Apart from the news coverage, which I love for its objectivity and intelligence, there is the Learning section - always useful for me at work, since I can usually find good ideas for lessons at a moment's notice if I need them - and the Sports and Gardening sections, which I love. I'm currently using the Gardening 3-D design template to plan out my new back garden, so it's really useful as well as being fun and educational. biggrin.gif

The Kingdom of Loathing^^ It's so much fun, because it's so random! Everything on the site seems to be a parody of something, and it makes me smile^^
