Which Of The Film Trio Looks Closest To Canon?, Dan, Rupert or Emma? |

We have literally watched the HARRY POTTER main trio of Harry, Ron and Hermione grow up before our eyes on the big screen.

In the books Harry is described thus: Harry had a thin face, knobbly knees, black hair, and bright green eyes. He wore round glasses . . . The only thing Harry liked about his own appearance was a very thin scar on his forehead that was shaped like a bolt of lightning. (PS/SS ch. 2.)

Further descriptions of Harry by Jo later add details such as the fact that his hair is always untidy and that he had the pinched slightly unhealthy look of someone who has grown a lot in a short space of time and is decidedly scruffy in appearance (OotP ch. 1.)
Harry's best friend Ron Weasley is tall, thin, and gangling, with freckles, big hands and feet, and a long nose with flaming red hair. (PS ch. 6) And throughout the books he keeps getting taller.

Rowling describes Hermione Granger, the gal-pal of the Trio, as having bushy brown hair, and rather large front teeth. (PS, ch. 6.) We later learn she has brown eyes, and by the middle of GoF she has reduced her front teeth to "normal" size.

Have the films been faithful in their visual presentation of the characters? If so which character comes closest to matching Rowling's canon description of them? Tell us which, if any, fits YOUR interpretation of how Harry, Ron or Hermiones should look--and explain your choices. Another impossible poll from the Gallery gang  !
This really is very, very difficult, because despite the fact that none of them are exactly like canon, when I read the books, the mental images I have are of Dan, Rupert and Emma.
OK, so Dan hasn't got green eyes, Rupert isn't tall and gangly and Emma is turning into a stunningly beautiful woman, but they are Harry, Ron and Hermione. Period.
For the sake of the poll, I am going to go with Dan as Harry. I adore them all, but based purely on looks alone - he is almost perfect.
And I love comparing the images of then and now - they really do look wonderful together.

I voted for Rupert as Ron because he has the facial expressions, manerisms and hair of Ron, if not the body shape. Since Harry's eyes are important to the series, I just can't vote for Dan, although in other aspects he is wonderful. The person who least fits the descriptions is Emma, because, as many have said, she is just too beautiful, and her hair is not at all bushy.
But, they are the trio, and overall, I'm happy with their appearance.
