I am fascinated by the man and love his films. My favorites are Rasputin, Harry Potter of course, and Sense and Sensibility, and of course Dogma and Die Hard.
He is actually old enough to be my grandfather and he does hate the fact that women fawn over him, so I try to limit how much I talk about being "attracted" to him as many a woman will do. So I will say I respect his work and I think he has such a great sense of humor!
However, this poster will be released by the American Library Association next week and I can't stop myself from buying it!

QUOTE(mwbashful18 @ Aug 3 2006, 11:57 PM) I am fascinated by the man and love his films. My favorites are Rasputin, Harry Potter of course, and Sense and Sensibility, and of course Dogma and Die Hard.
Oh, Alan Rickman! My favourite roles of his are definitely Rasputin (what an amazing part for him to play), Christopher Brandon in Sense and Sensibility, the Sheriff of Nottingham in Prince of Thieves, and Severus Snape, of course...
What I loved most about his role as Colonel Brandon was how very different it was from anything he'd ever done... Christopher Brandon is one of my favourite literary figures, and, as he is described as "the kindest and best of men," I believe it takes a certain and rare man to fill that role... Rickman truly brought Brandon to the screen in ways I could never have imagined... For the first time in what might have been my whole life, I actually preferred a character in a film to its literary counterpart... He's just spectacular...
I never saw Die Hard (a mortal sin, I realize) and although I do love Dogma, his role as the voice of god wasn't necessarily something I'd add to my list of most riveting performances... Though, "You humans, you always think somebody's trying to get in your knickers!" was hilarious enough to merit a few rewinds, I must say...
Alan Rickman is, truly, one of the greatest actors of our time.

I dont think that there has been a bad Alan Rickman movie. He can play so many different roles & be totally believable. In Robin Hood he was awesome, in my opinion the movie was just awful but he saved it. He was just awesome in that role. Maybe the only disappointing movie was Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, but having read the books I thought that the movie did not live up to them, also giving Alan the role of the depressed robot I even sit through Die Hard & all its violence just for Alan Rickman because he so rocks as the bad guy. Its like, get Bruce Willis out of the way, he is ruining the story line lol. But my favorite movies starring Alan include Truly Madly Deeply, Love Actually, Dogma, obviously the HP movies, Sense & Sensibility because he is perfect as Colonel Brandon. Its thanks to Alan that I even got interested in *old* movies from the period, now I'll watch movies like Emma, Pride & Prejudice & all those kind of stories. Galaxy Quest is just awesomeness, I adore that movie. I am hoping we'll get more news about his new movie Snow Cake. He is the greatest British actor of our age & it would be surprizing if his new movie goes by unnoticed. (I also can not see the pic in the link of the first post).

Just something funny i wanted to share with you all. I was relaxing after work, watching King of the Hill, when I recognize one of the characters voices. Who should it be but Alan Rickman playing the voice of a King at a rennasaince fair. It was just very strange to hear Snape's voice comeing out of a cartoon all about a bunch of people from Texas
There was even some line about a serpent's tongue...

Melissa said I had a great name on Pottercast! Squeeeeeeeeeee!
'Just because it's taken you three years to notice, Ron, doesn't mean no one else has spotted I'm a girl!'

QUOTE(miss_danielle @ Aug 9 2006, 12:09 PM) What I really want is him to be back doing theatre in London. Hes already done some great roles. He is born to play Enobarbus in my opinon in Antony and Cleopatra. But, i'm sure if he did A&C again he would play Antony like he did before.
Have you seen Alan Rickman doing theater? Obviously Ive only ever seen him in movies, & already thats plenty impressive enough, but I guess there's something vaguely detatched about it, its rehearsed, edited, cut, colored, filtered & all that technical stuff. To see him & hear him live on stage must be just an awesome experience. Whoopi Goldberg is in my top 5 favorite female actresses, possibly #1, but seeing her live on stage was a whole new experience, it was like there are no barriers, no effects. It would be just so amazing to see Alan Rickman doing theater, especially something so big as Shakespeare.
