Which Harry Potter Character would you be most likely to name a child after? Please vote in the poll above and post in the thread to let us know why you chose that name.

Is it because it's a family name? Is it a name you've always liked, even before HP? Is there something about that character you admire or like and want to connect with your child?

If it was a girl I would have chosen Lily, and if it was a boy I would have chosen Draco, but as a middlename. I have this thing with falling in love with strange names tongue.gif Maybe it's because I hate it when people have the same name as me dry.gif smile.gif *IHateOrdinary*

I chose Sirius, because I like that name, but that said, I would never name my child after a popular culture character - it seems so wrong.

I chose Lily. If I was to have another girl, this would be a name I would use. It is not because of Harry Potter, but the name seems to be so calm and pretty.
I think I sound a little dorky, but I could use a little calm. lol.gif

Lily, Molly, Ginny, James & Tom are nice for first names.

For middle names, I'd use Hermione, Minerva, Luna, Sirius, Draco, or Remus.

Remus is my favorite HP character, so that would be my only reason for using that name. I recently saw a reality TV show in which a mother who is a huge HP fan named her newborn daughter Hermione.

I choose Fred because other than the Trio, I like Fred and George the most, probably due to a practical joker streak/personality flaw myself, besides those two names just seem the most sensible and warm.

I'm rather hurt that no one chose Molly, just because that's my name.

I voted for Lily, just because it's my favorite name out of all of them, but I like Ginny for a dog's name.

I chose Sirius just because I think it's a cool name. For a girl I like Lily and Minerva best. Although I could never name a child Minerva 'cause it's the name of my cat and that'd just be weird.

I chose Ginny. I don't think I would name a girl Ginerva but maygbe Virginia. You could get Ginny out of both of those.

I also like James, Tom, Sirius, Fred, and George. I think a kid with the name Sirius would get picked on because it is an unusual name and it's from a book read by many. I've always liked the name James but not Jim. There was a boy in my second grade class named Jim and he bugged me to death. Tom is an ok name but it is way too ordinary. Fred and George-the characters-always made me laugh so I like those. George especially. Fred is the name of my friends father and he kinda creeps me out.

I picked Sirius because I really like how that name is related to dogs (I love dogs). I would probably use it as a middle name, however, since it's a bit too unusual and I'd worry about my son getting picked on. :/ Also, I'll probably name a dog 'Padfoot,' so it might be a bit weird x3

For girls, I don't really like Ginny (it's like Jenny, and that's too...normal for me). I don't like Lily for the same reason =P But I really love, and have ALWAYS loved, the name Luna. (:

For boys, I might pick (besides Sirius) James. Although that's my nephew's middle name, and we don't really get along xD Ron is okay, but seriously, I would always think of 'Ronald McDonald' (THANKS MOM for planting that in my head when I started reading harry potter! I can't think of ron in the same way ever since x.x).

So...yeah. That's why I picked Sirius. xD
