This is my sorting hat song. It isn't a filk, but it does rhyme 
So here you are all gathered
Just like every year before.
Most of you will know my song,
But listen, I implore.
The house that I will sort you to
Will show your heart's true colours.
But my aim is not to sever you
Or divide you from the others.
United Hogwarts stands,
And divided we will fall.
Animosity between us spells
Disaster for us all.
If you're Gryffindor you're daring,
Courageous and brave at heart.
While if you're Ravenclaw you're clever,
Intelligent, witty and smart.
In Slytherin you're cunning,
Ambitious shrewd and sly.
And in Hufflepuff you're fair and true,
Work hard and always try.
Now put me on, and don't be scared
It doesn't take that long.
I'll take a peek inside your head
And see where you belong!

I just wrote this right now. I love how it rolls off the tongue. It's short, but length isn't everything. Thanks for giving me the chance to do this. Here it is:
The Sorting Hat Song:
I welcome you to school this year,
Familiar and anew.
I am the Sorting Hat, who’s here,
To sort you fair and true.
The four great houses you all know,
I’ll put in the one.
That sets you on your path in life,
Until you’re dead and done.
Gryffindor is first to be,
A house with heart and pride.
Where noble witch and wizard go,
To choose the rightful side.
Ravenclaw is next in line,
A house of wit and smarts.
Intellect is in demand,
As is a clever heart.
Hufflepuff is next to last,
A just and lawful kind,
They stay in turn and say yes sir,
And keep an open mind.
Slytherin is last, not least,
They are a special breed.
With wands in hand, and heads held high,
A warning they do heed.
So let me see your gifted mind
To see where you will be,
The secrets of your hearts content,
Are never safe from me.
I’ll look to see where you belong,
In Gryffindor or Slytherin,
Or maybe simple Hufflepuff,
Or fearless, Loyal Ravenclaw.
So as the Sorting Hat I say,
It is that time for me to play,
It is that time of year this day,
It is that time to sort, HORRAY!

Our learning to commence
