AIDA is my all-time favorite. Other than that, Rent and Les Miserables are my favorites I've seen. Wicked, The Last Five Years, and Parade are my favorites that I have not seen but own the recording.

My favorite is Phantom of the Opera. I usually hate musicals, not that I hate music, just the plot in most of them. But phantom of the Opera is amazing. I love "masquerade"

My favorite musical would have to be Rent, although, unfortunately, I've never seen the play. But I love the movie and sountrack biggrin.gif My next favorite is Hairspray, which I have seen on Broadway--it was amazing! I just got the soundtrack for Christmas this year. I also like Chicago and Aida. I got the soundtrack for Aida for Christmas, although I had no idea what the play was about or anything. I heard some of the songs and liked them, so I wanted the soundtrack. Some of my favorite older musicals are The Sound of Music and The King and I. I love musicals, so I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that come to mind.

I would say my favorite musical would either be CATS or Jesus Christ Superstar. They are both great musicals and I was in both of them I know word-by-word musical numbers. I think after you wear a unitard, you would appreciate CATS.

I really like West Side Story, Jekyll and Hyde, and Sweeney Todd. Those 3 are amazing and the first two have amazing songs in it and a lot of emotion. Sweeney Todd does too, but I find it has more of a sick humor more than anything. One of the greatest songs "A Little Priest" is the most funniest as well. But its sick.

KiKi & Herb: Off Broadway. I knew Justin Bond in San Francisco before he moved to New York to make his big show. So I did see Kiki before she squandered her talent. Oh, so unappreciated. hehehe. I loved her show. She still is doing it in New York, here and there.

Rocky Horror Picture Show. I have it on DVD, but I did get to see it once with a small group of dedicated performers acting with the film. It's the best way to see it.

Grease. Never saw the play, but just the film. I still do have many of the numbers memorized.

Tommy by the Who. I have only seen the film version, but I am sure I would have liked the stage version as well. It's one DVD I play quite often.

Unfortunately, in Holland we have this producer Joop van de Ende. He makes such mediocre productions of Musicals - but the Dutch just can't get enough of it. Sorry, but I will pass on any versions of Bob Fosse in Dutch. It's horrible. So I have to wait to see productions either in French when I am in Belgium or if I go to England. I would not mind seeing Rent or Wicked in London.

So I have resorted to Opera. My favorites are Wagner, Handel, and Mozart. with Tristan & Isolde as being my Favorite Opera. I have seen it twice - once in Seattle, with stage designs by David Hockney, and a few years back in an amazing production where the ending just made an emotional mess of me. The way the light went out on Isoldes face as she passed away was intense.

Cheers,

I love musicals so I have a lot of favorites. Many of them I own on DVD so I can watch them and sing along over and over again.

I think Grease is my favorite. It's probably because I've watched it 4000 times as a child and had the whole thing memorized. Me and my brother used to act on most of the songs esp "you're hte on e that I want" the part with the cigarette etc.

Coming in a very close second would be Annie. It's another one we memorized practically every word to it. We used to use the slide at mcdonalds to act out the last scene on hte bridge.

I also love West Side Story, The King and I, Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, the Lion King, Aladdin, and tons more. I think if the movie has catchy songs, and a good story (preferrably some sort of tearjerker moment involved) I will thoroughly enjoy it.

I just love musicals. I'm a sucker for a catchy tune and imo a few good songs can more than make up for an average plot. Unfortunately I have seen very few on stage beyond local or school productions.

Favourites movie musicals of mine include:
The Sound of Music - this one, to me has a great storyline to go along with the great songs.
Wizard of Oz - never fails to make me laugh, sing along and feel all warm and fuzzy. I also played the Wicked Witch of the West(note - one of
the only completely non-singing parts - I cannot sing to save my life!) in my secondary- school production, so it's a musical close to my heart.
My Fair Lady - a talented cast, a wonderful story and great music.
Chicago - I would love to see it on stage, but have never had the opportunity. The songs and dancing always get me singing and dancing around
the living room though.
The Rocky Horror Show - I LOVE this movie. It is witty, crazy and has a fabulous score. Tim Curry is amazing and Richard O'Brien is brilliant. This
plays at a local single-screen cinema every Friday at midnight. I have seen it there dozens of times over the years!
The Producers (but only the original): Hilarious mad-cap comedy with catchy tunes.
Calamity Jane: An oldie but Doris Day is great, the songs are wonderful and it's a fun story.

Favourite musical shows of mine include Mama Mia bvecause I love Abba; Les Miserables which is an amazing, emotional production; Cats because I love the songs and think it is lovely interpretation of my favourite T.S. Elliot poems; Joseph simply because I love the songs; I Keano - a brilliant Irish musical comedy based around the events of World Cup 2002 in Saipan when Irish soccer captain and legend Roy Keane rowed with manager Mick McCarthy and was sent home, but relocated to Ancient Rome.

I must also confess a love for operettas, particularly The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado. I love the scores and like the light-hearted comedy approach.
