2006 held many joys, stresses, and surprises for us all, and in this thread, Doris and I intend for the staff, ourselves included, to share the events and experiences that we felt helped to define life on the Leaky Lounge.

Some of the exciting changes, memorable experiences, and new features included:
  • Our Harry Potter Reading Groups, which are already heavy into discussion of Goblet of Fire
  • Our new HP Book Club, full of threads on everything you could ever want to discuss about Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone
  • HP 101, the soon-to-be definitive catalogue of information on HP-related discussion topics
  • The Corner Booth Text Chat, which has grown hugely, and has expanded to include HP Movie Nights
  • Our PotterCast Forum, which is *the* place to discuss all things PotterCast
  • Our new Unfogging Deathly Hallows forum
  • The very memorable April Fool's Day Event, when for a day we became the LeakyMug Cafe honeymooning spot for Melissa and Emerson
  • Our super-fun image and video gallery forums
  • All of our fun and memorable Lounge Events, including Viva Las Vegas, Haunted Happenings, and the Yule Ball
  • Growing to more than 45,000 members!!

Thanks so much for the incredible year, and for the many years to come!

A few of my favorite moments:
W.O.M.B.A.T. tests and getting to chat with everyone about them. Jo had a few surprises for us on her webpage this past year, actually...

The metamorphisis of the Lounge! It's become so much easier to navigate around. For example, the idea of moving the Harry threads to the top? Brilliant!

Some of the theories and questions posed in various threads have made me stop and rethink things. I've enjoyed having to get my brain stretched a little.

Some of my favourites:
  • Halloween - this was so much fun, and the build up (where we hid tricks and treats throughout the forum) - was almost as much fun as the event itself!
  • September 'Back to School' event - this included the fabulous Leaky Arcade which is a seriously addictive place wink.gif
  • The Book Club. This has brought a new lease of life to lounge discussion and thrown up a host of new ideas - unmissable!
  • Title Release Day! Being on the lounge when JKR announced the book 7 title was a fantastic experience - sharing the news and our reactions and ideas with other forum members was so much fun and will soon become a treasured memory. cry.gif

This year in Leaky has been all about the Lily and Stag Reading Groups for me! Obviously, the Lounge has grown and done a lot of wonderfully amazing things in the (almost) year that I've been here but I joined in anticipation of the reading groups and the tight-nit community we have there is awesome!

Happy Birthday, Leaky Lounge! wish.gif

Thanks for giving us such a great forum!!

I really enjoyed the preparation for the WOMBATs 2 that LL did! It was nice to see how little I actually know about HP. I'm always so obsessed with HP, I seem to know everything about it when it comes to my peers. But here, I find people as obsessed as I am, if not more so, people who are willing to listen to my whack theories without the nod-and-smile approach. LL is definitely the best forum I've ever seen!

I also really liked when the title of DH was released. That's what brought me back to the LL after about a seven-month-long hiatus, and now I'm making about a dozen posts a day. The sense of excitement, all the "What could it mean?" threads, it just got me so pumped. Not to mention, back when DH wasn't overused (by now, we say it too often for it to sound really cool), saying "Deathly Hallows" a couple of times for the eerie effect. It's sad that that was the last time we'll do something like that. 2007 will probably be LL's last year of predicting what will happen in the future.

Happy birthday Leaky Lounge!!! wizard.gif bday.gif bday.gif bday.gif wizard.gif

Hurrah for censorship! Apparently I'm not allowed to say that I wasn't allowed to say something in my sig. Point is, PM me if you wanna know why I've stopped posting.

This has been a fantastic year for me here in the Lounge! My favourite experience was working in "Donivander's Wand Shop" for the September Back-to-School/Hogwarts' Express event. It was hard work, great interacting with so many members, and I laughed for eight hours straight! IPB Image

This year was a great one!!!!

I remember last birthday party because that's how I got my special title (Great hunt all over the whole Floo Network....... It was pretty fun...), and all the special activities are too fun to miss......

The Corner Booth is something great, I woudnt imagine the Lounge without having our chats... they are always to good to leave the chat room...

The whole Lounge experience is great........

This is for another great year of posting!!!!!

2006 was the Year of Leaky for me. I was a fan of the news site, but this past year was when I delved into the Lounge, thanks to Melissa and Sue's recommendation of the Reading Groups in a PotterCast. From the Reading Groups, I started posting around the forums, started filking, got involved in the text chats in the Corner Booth, and just went nuts for Leaky. A big highlight of the year would have to be doing a fan interview with the awesome Kimmy Blair.

Long live Leaky!

2006 - I joined the Lounge. Before then, I had only one friend who I could talk to Harry Potter with, now I have loads!

All the differenet meet or greets - My first was the pirate one which was fun. Then there was Quidditch, and OMG! I actually got a question right in the chat quiz! The Yule Ball was truly amazing, it reall put me in the mood for Christmas.

Oh, and of course, joining the reading groups. I would have m,issed so much if I hadn't joined!
