Happy New Year
Welcome to our Harry New Year Challenge!
As this year ends, and we bring 2007 to a close, we'd like to invite all of our members to a challenge.
First - This weekend, we know that there will be many muggles out ringing in the New Year, but for those of us who like a more quiet form of entertainment, we offer our arcade challenge. We've added new games and we've got the arcade set so you can challenge members to a "wizard duel" of skills in our arcade. (Just click challenge - choose who you want to duel - and you are off!) The challenge will start Saturday Morning and will end on January 2nd at 9am Eastern. You can find the link to the Shrieking Shack here.
Next - 2007 has been an exciting year for all Harry Potter fans! This year we'd like to take the time to share with all of you our top Harry Potter memory of the year. Some of our staff members have already shared their memories for this wonderful year.
------------
My own personal thoughts.
Wow - This year has been so incredible! The book - THE BOOK! I can't even explain how awesome it was to finally hear Harry's fate from Jo's quill! One thing did make it soooo much better ...
You - the staff, the members, the readers, the family that Leaky has become. I loved the experience, and sharing with all of you guys has made it so much sweeter! Now I'm excited to look forward to what will become of Harry's legacy, and what Jo's quill might say to us in the future!
To all the staff, friends, and family of Leaky --
Have a wonderful New Year!
Doris

This is what I would like to say for the BB Fourm:
QUOTE I would like to wish everyone the best 2008! It's the only 2008 that we will get, so make the best of it! 2007 was really amazing. For me, I met many wonderful people, at shows, conventions, and here at Leaky. I was acquainted with Wizard Rock, thus adding this genre to my ever growing musical tastes. I have had the pleasure to see just how much love Harry Potter can behold not only for the books, but by the fans alike. I will miss the Summer of Seven, now that I think about it, the Year of Seven. I don't know if 2008 will be able to handle Harry Potter fans like the one's at Leaky. Can 2008 handle it? We'll see! So let's all give 2007 three cheers and push open the doors to the journey into 2008. So let's take on 2008, with wands in hands and love in our hearts! But as always, keep each other safe, keep faith.

2007 was the best Potter-year for me EVER! From the excitement as the year began with the title for the final book, through the hubbub in the Galleries with the imminent release of the Order of the Phoenix film and DH book release, to the best holiday gift imaginable . . . Jo Rowling's exclusive interview on PotterCast. Simply an amazing year. THE Year of Potter!
Proud to be a member of Jo's Army -- evermore!
Thank you Jo!

2007 was truly an amazing year to be a Harry Potter fan, with many wonderful things happening, the best being of course the release of Deathly Hallows in July. I'm also extremely grateful to have met so many wonderful people just through Leaky, and all thanks to J K Rowling. Thank you Jo and Happy New Year to everyone on the Lounge.

While the following statement may get me lynched by many in fandom, I have to say that finally reading the final book was not the best Harry Potter moment.
The Harry Potter Moments I will treasure from 2007 are those moments when I got to meet so many of my wonderful online friends in person because of various Harry Potter events....
Phoenix Rising and Ofenjen, quietish, Melissa, John, Sue... All the elves there, Kadi (evile rocks!), Mj, jewells68, Lizzieangel and she's truly an angel, hp5freak. While not getting to meet Doris and Jenn with 2 N's (As_Weasley_As_I_wannabe) in 2007, getting to know them better better. The DRAGONs crew....
Yes this is beginning to sound like an award acceptance speech and I'm sure I have not thought of someone's name here but it has been a year of acceptance for me into the Leaky Family and it is wonderful.
I wish each and everyone at Leaky a blessed, healthy, prosperous and Joy-Filled year in 2008 for you all have made my 2007 joy-filled!

How on earth do you sum up such a fantabulously Harry 2007?
The book, for me, was bittersweet. Cried as soon as I got my grubby little paws on it, I did! I still can't quite believe it's over...
The movie? Lucius. in. leather. 'nuff said
Becoming a Crafty Witch? The bestest thing ever!! To be asked to be part of such a special group of people as the staff at Leaky is just such an overwhelming honor! You all truly rock my socks with your constant hard work, helpfulness and generosity.
The members have reinforced my belief that there is still good left in the world. To love Harry is to love humanity, even with all of its flaws, and you all and your ability to embrace differences makes me go all goopy inside!
So, a toast to 2008, may it be filled with an abundance of love, friendship and miracles. And may each and every one of you know that I will always feel quite lucky to call you my Leaky family!

For the Harry Potter fan, the year of 2007 was definitely a busy one. News was crazy; with Deathly Hallows release dates, movie news, theme park news, and much more. And now that 2007 is coming to an end, J.K. Rowling and Deathly Hallows have been receiving numerous awards, with Jo being listed as a candidate for Time's Person of the Year.
One of the coolest things of the year for me is being given the opportunity to join the leaky staff. Leaky means a lot to me, and has grown over the year and a half that I've been a member of leakylounge. I think that this year was fun because I stepped up in the amount of time I spent online, posting more and trying to be more active on the boards. This payed off with numerous new friends that I made this year. These new friends I have come to spend tons of time with and was just an awesome thing for me in this year.
Deathly Hallows was obviously one of the biggest, if not the biggest, events of 2007 in the potter fandom. Of course, this is to be expected. After all, it's not everyday the last potter book in the series comes out! DH was bittersweet for me as well, and I think a lot of hardcore potter fans such as myself were put into withdrawal, and even depression, now that the potter books were apparently over. (Encyclopedia, anyone?) One of the cooler things in preparation and discussion leading to Deathly Hallows was leaky's no-spoiler-policy, "formally" called Jo's Army. I believe that this policy simply showed how serious of fans we were, and that we respected Jo and her works, and that leaky as a whole would not except spoilers on their boards.
Other exciting news was with the upcoming Order of the Phoenix movie, which was released on Jule 13th. WB released a whole bunch of images, and talk across leaky of the movie was great, especially with the video game and EA Game's Fan Council here on the lounge.
PotterCast, Leaky's podcast, also went on a massive tour across the US in preparation for the release of Deathly Hallows. These events were huge, and unfortunately, I was unable to go to one, but I think that PotterCast's tour meant a lot to us fans, the last time they could get together and theorize with thousands of fans as to whether or not Harry would go back to Hogwarts, or whether or not the trio would live to tell the tale of their journey against Voldemort. During this time, Leaky also released a massive 400 question quiz with questions that would be answered in Deathly Hallows.
Lastly, one of the cooler things probably in all of leaky's history, is that J.K. Rowling made a personal appearance on Leaky's weekly podcast PotterCast. Jo was awesome in these interviews, and it was simply amazing to hear Jo talking to fans just like us, one-on-one. Also, there was a fundraiser by leaky and wizard rock bands called Jingle Spells, which went towards charities such as Book Aid International. This CD sold out competely, and raised somewhere around 30,000-40,000 US dollars, if I remember correct. How amazing is this? It simply shows how caring our fan base is.
Overall, 2007 held a lot in store for Potter fans. I think 2007 had an increase in the positive nature of our fandom. Fans grew bigger fans, and we got to grow together as a group of in this amazing fandom.

2007 has been, hands down, the best year. I have more or less grown up with Harry as he tackled the challenges each new school year brought him. It's been an amazing journey, and this year I've become immersed into the fandom in such an incredible way. It would not have been the same without the friends I have made, and if I had a choice to do it all over again, I wouldn't change anything. Thank you Jo for sharing Harry's story with us, and thank you to Leaky and all it's members and staff for creating such a welcoming environment where we can all come together with a common interest. This year has been amazing, almost too amazing for words. Here is to the end of an amazing year, and the beginning of a new one. Happy New Year everyone!

Happiest of New Years to All!
Memories of 2007 seem entirely tied to the people here at Leaky... staff with whom I've shared the joy of celebrating HP and members who've blessed the places where I call home.
Woot! Hey… now it's officially a word, surely fawkes won't mind *ducks suddenly flung snowball* Ok, then, Whoop! The Corner Booth has given me incredible fun… I'm still astonished at the insight the Boothers bring to every HP chat! In 2007 manager Aislinn gave me the gift of joining the staff of the Corner Booth aka "heaveninatextchat" and I haven't stopped grinning. From first putting my foot in the door with the RG chats, to Shell Cottage... what a thorough pleasure. Consider the joy of working with Aislinn, Expelliarmas, fawkes28, futureweasley, JaneMarple9, Mr. McGonagall, Poet, Prongs Patronus, SoonerGryffindor, and Theorizer! *happy sigh*
And, oh, my! My first love, The Lily and Stag Inn, began 2007 by completing discussion of Goblet of Fire. InnKeeper anguinea next slithered um… lead us from Goblet to Order of the Phoenix as the reading groups "Siriusly" discussed everything from angst to the twins' possible future at Zonko's. (wrong!) Then, new Innkeepers becky920 and HPMommy opened the Lily and Stag's doors for Deathly Hallows when that last, breathlessly awaited book made its appearance a tad earlier than many predicted! I'm so glad we'll be able to dissect discuss Half Blood Prince in 2008!
Goodness, 2007 even saw a wedding between two staffers who met over a mug of butterbeer in the Lily and Stag! *hugs* to guru and gregorya!
Many Leaky staff started out calling the Inn "home," as do a delightful group of insightful, fun-loving, welcoming members. Woot! for more Lily and Stag! Since my best Leaky memories are people rather than events or places, I hope I may list all the Lily and Staggers I worked with in 2007: (GoF) anguinea, Addreamy, Mokeymagoo,, mlwl, atschpe, kimmparker, L.J, Expelliarmas, GregoryTheSmarmy, TheGuruOfSloth, Moriah, Islwyn13, KimmyBlair, HealerOne, superblue, erised fo rorrim, HPMommy, Mullen, Pleshette, artlady, mrs. mcd, Estrella, Psyche, (joining us for OotP) bemused, becky920, Questauthor, and (joining us for DH and now HBP) Nimbus Flyer, birthdaytwins, Granjo Granger, leakylurker, huebbe, fw00per, ,merrythought, Kwikspell, StepInTime, fidelia, fairydust831, and Curious.
What more could a cloud desire?
thanks to mokey for the image to anguinea for the opportunity and to Addreamy for the guidance!

2007 was a wonderful Potter year for me. I had just become a mod at the end of 2006 and I worked in the Book Club when it first started, I'm still in there and love it. We've said goodbye to some mods, hello to a few new ones and even goodbye and hello again to some who left and found they couldn't keep away so came back.
The release of Deathly Hallows was a huge event and I showed my devotion by standing in a wet, freezing car park for an hour and a half (yes, I know it was July but it was a very cold July in the UK) to queue for my book. I started reading it in Yorkshire and finished it in a car park in Edinburgh, because I wanted to finish before meeting up with friends for dinner so that we could talk about it. I remember frantically wiping away tears because time was getting on and I needed to get it finished and didn't have time for crying
I loved the OoTP film (I've loved them all, even GoF, despite all the parts missed out or changed) and saw the ordinary film about 3-4 times and the IMAX version twice ("your'e going again!!??" said friends, shaking their heads in amusement. "and your point?" I thought)
I've enjoyed my year of modding, yes, even the crazy post-DH days , I've loved meeting so many wonderful people and reading some amazing posts and ideas. Thanks and a Happy New Year to you all, you make Leaky the wonderful place that it is.
