We had eight suggestions for the book to read after The Subtle Knife, which starts on May 17th, so the time has come to vote for the book you'd like to read. This poll will stay open until about May 24th when we will announce the winner so that you have some time to read it and think about what you'd like to discuss. As usual we'll start off with a few threads but would then love it if anyone else would like to start some. read.gif

I third it. I love this book, and I watched the film recently and really enjoyed that too.

I don't care so much. But do not want to read The Hobbit until some period after the Dark Materials set. We shouldn't gob up all the fantasy novels so closely together. I've only read Tolkien's books once through, and really looking forward to rereading them. But I just think it'd be better this way.

A newbie here so sorry for a silly question. Can it be any book? I mean does it have to be a certain genre, for people over a certain age, do you have a list of what has already been read so that book cant be voted for again etc

I would love to vote for Shadow of the Wind! Got to be one of my most favourite books.

welcome.gif!! It's great to see new members joining up!

For now, we are just discussing the books that J.K. Rowling has recommended. We have a full list that we post when we are taking suggestions for the next book. When we get through that list (which will be a while, I think there are 38 some odd books on it!) we will broaden our horizons!

I hope you enjoy this discussion!

I voted for "I Capture the Castle" as well!!! I'm new to the book club but thought I'd put my opinion in. I have never read it and i think it'd be a great read!

I havent read the book & didnt even know there's a movie? huh.gif
So I was torn between The Hobbit and The Little White Horse but I decided on The Hobbit because it's so long since I read it and it's always more fun reading with other people smile.gif

I'm getting on the I Capture the Castle bandwagon. No real reason, other than it is the only book on the list that I haven't heard of, and I'd like to read something I don't know about.
