I figured this is the best place for this, so here goes.
I apologize in advance if this topic has already been posted, but I didn't know how to go about finding it.
So I was re-reading HBP the other day for like the 3rd time through this year, and just came across something I never thought to think about before.
In HBP Hard back, page 568, I noticed something this time that made me wonder. "'Out of the way please, Harry,' said Dumbledore. He raised his wand and made complicated movements over the surface of the potion, murmuring soundlessly. Nothing happened, except perhaps that the potion glowed a little brighter..."
Now, to my assumption DD already has the Elder Wand, and has so for a while now. I can not think of anywhere that says that he acquired it some time after this. If I am incorrect then there is nothing more to be discussed.
However, if DD has already acquired the Elder Wand, the wand that is more powerful than any other wand, how can he not break through basin with it therefore not having to drink the potion?
That is my question. Now, I have my theory on this matter, but I don't want to taint someone else's, so I'll post after some replies come my way.

The wand is more powerful, but still can't do everything, because magic always has its limits.

oh btw, just a side note. whenever DD finished drinking the potion, was it just me or did anybody else think that it was just water, and he was testing harry whenever he said "water"? lol i kind of laughed for a second. but then i was like crap. heh.

The wand is only useful during combat, otherwise, it's just like any other wand. Thats sort of what killed Voldy, other than the fact that the wand wasn't his. He thought that because it was an extraordinary wand, that he should be able to produce extraordinary magic.
