Why did Regulus stay in the cave after Kreacher and he had gotten the locket out of the goblet?
Regulus could just have apperated along with Kreacher right?

Why didn't Keacher and Regulus apperate right onto island in the cave?

Regulus intended Kreacher to destroy the locket why wouldn't he try to destroy it himself?

hmmm,,, i dont know.

i'm guessing that voldemort would have made it impossible for any human to apparate (whether with or without aid). however this may have just been over looked by Jo.
good question smile.gif im stumped

I'm stumped too. He had a change of heart, and who knows, maybe after listening to Kreacher's story about where Voldemort had taken him Regulus knew what the locket really was, and knew that there was no way of taking it or destroying without Voldemort eventually finding out. Maybe he felt like a ''marked'' man man anyway. Or it could've been his way of repaying for the things he had done and believed all that time before. I don't know. Grasping at straws.

I always thought it could have been brains on his part - if Voldie thought that RAB had in any way found his secret and gone and checked up on the locket, what better way to make him believe that RAb had failed than by having his dead body there?

I always wondered if RAB would have been one of the Inferi or if Voldie knew that RAB had gotten to the locket but assumed he hadn't been able to get it and killed himself in the process, and then Voldie just cleared up the mess...

hey everybody, ok i don't know why but i think that after RAB took the potion he got weak like Dumbledore (i know i spelt it wrong) he would have had no way of getting out like. i don't think he could have apparated with Krecher because house-elf magic is supposed to be stronger. and maybe the cave was like hogwarts in the sense that you cant apperate or disapperate inside it but yet dobby could when he was in hogwarts, oh i don't know i'm all confused now lol

Regulus could have Apparated out with Kreacher. Dobby was able to Apparate others out of places that were protected against Apparition. I believe that Regulus knew that eventually Voldemort would find him and would then find out what he had done. Regulus thinks Voldemort only has one horcrux. So he thinks that if Voldemort finds out the horcrux was destroyed, then he would just make another. Therefore, he makes sure that Voldemort can't find out that he took the locket by disappearing forever. This way he hopes that Voldemort will be mortal when someone finally kills him.

I agree with harrydavid. I think that RAB could have left with Kreacher but knew eventualy Voldemort would find him and know what he had done. I think he stayed in the cave because he new when Voldemort found him he would put him to death in a more horific way than he would have gotten in the cave.

Actually it appears Malfoy Manor was not protected against Apparition, once the trio got wands they were able to Apparate under their own steam (notice Harry concentrating on the Destination of Shell Cottage).

I can see Regulus using death as his way to escape serving Voldemort as a Death Eater, but as he realized how crucial the destruction of the locket was to Voldemort's defeat why didn't he wait a bit until he researched methods for horcrux destruction so he could leave Kreacher with a plan that might have worked?

Yes, the Manor itself was not protected. But the cellar appears to have been from the way they talked about it as escape proof. Harry even asks if Dobby can bring people with him, implying that it was protected. He already knew Dobby could bring people along if it wasn't protected.

I like a couple of theories that PlacidIntrepid put forward about RAB feeling as though he was a marked man or wanting to redeem himself and his actions by making the ultimate sacrifice. Whether or not it's actually true to the story I don't know... Perhaps it was out of fear of what Voldemort would do to him once he found out; he'd rather die on his own terms than face his Voldie's wrath.
