I thought it would be fun to have a poll on your favorite fruit! I have listed quite a few in alphabetical order. So my question to you is; what is your favorite fruit and why? What are some of your favorite foods containing fruit, and if you have any particularly sumptuous and refreshing fruit recipes, please share them with us (I'm getting hungry!!).

You can choose from more than one of the options given above or tell us about your own unique fruit that is near and dear to your palate eat.gif

Have fun smile.gif

As you can see, I love fruit. I love it in pies, cakes and eating in the hand. My favorite pies are Apple Pie, and Coconut Cream Pie, which I like all year round. Peaches and plums I eat throughout the summer, and enjoy every bite. Actually, there aren't many fruits that I don't like.

I love fruit so I'm probably going to go down the list & vote for all of them lol.gif
For the most part I eat fruit raw so I dont have too many recipes, although I think pumpkin is also a fruit & I adore pumpkin, I make pies and soups.
I eat avocado as a savory thing, my favorite way of eating it is to cut it in half & remove the seed thing, then fill the hole with a vinaigrette: olive oil, with a tiny amount of vinegar, one crushed clove of garlic, & some whole grain organic mustard, mix it vigorously so as the ingredients amalgamate & pour in. Quick & easy but so good biggrin.gif
Bananas are good sliced, with maple syrup poured over & pieces of broken up dark chocolate (I guess you could use chocolate chips)
But, I love all fruit so much that it's difficult to resist talking about all of them grin.gif

I also love fruit very much, although I do not care for plums. Cherry pie is my favorite cooked fruit, and the sharon fruit is my favorite uncooked fruit.

I love fruit too! It's way tastier than sweets or chocolate etc. I can't see why there is such a problem with healthy eating when we have such great options! tongue.gif I voted for Apples and Plums.

There were that many to choose from, I ended up ticking half the list. I like to make myself a nice big dish of raspberries, blackberries, cherries and chopped strawberries. I find it really nice and refreshing. I also really enjoy fresh fruit smoothies. A strawberry and orange smoothie is really tasty.

After going to a smash party of Walter's in Antwerp, Belgium for the Fashion Cultural Festival - I have never seen such a looooooooooooong streeeeeeeeeeeetched table full of STRAWBERRYS, Chocolate and Cream - with Candelabras burning inviting tones of "come get it!". We are talking Strawberries that did not taste like chemicals. This party was in an Airplane wing, with these great propeller wind machines keeping the room the right temperature to dance. Fantastic night, and those piles of Strawberries disappeared...

I still have a memory - positive at least of Salt Lake City in 1983, going to a Natural Food Store and getting a wooden basket of the Largest Strawberries I had ever seen. I slowly walked to where I was staying. Good thing I bought two baskets of them, because one was finished by me. They tasted amazing!

After being in Reform School for over a 1 1/2 years I appreciated just being able to walk around - but I was too paranoid. I left the city as soon as I could arrange it; but the Strawberry memory and seeing Flashdance 2x influenced my taste (I still like to eat Strawberries out of a basket) - and my funk (I became a Go-Go Night Club Dancer later in life).

I don't like Strawberry Ice Cream at all - Just the Fruit and Cream. I made a strawberry dress for a drag queen that was a design disaster till we got the glue gun out. She scented herself with Strawberry perfume - it was very very funny to see! See what happens when two tastes collide with one! I wanted to see a Strawberry Dance Go-Go!

OK, this isn't my own recipe, in fact I only just found it but I can't wait to try it

Lemon berry cheesecake

This tangy, low-fat cheesecake has an unusual dried-fruit base that's packed with flavour and plenty of vitamins and minerals too.

Serves 12, preparation 25 minutes plus overnight chilling.

For the fruity base
60g/21/4oz dried apricots
60g/21/4oz dried pitted dates
60g/21/4oz dried figs
70g/21/2oz coarse semolina

For the cheescake
300g/101/2oz low fat ricotta cheese
2 tablespoons sucralose (eg Splenda or other sugar substitute or you could use sugar I suppose if you don't mind the calories)
250g/9oz low-fat fromage frais, vanilla flavour
250g/9oz low-fat fromage frais, lemon flavour
2 teaspoons finely grated lemon zest
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 tablespoon gelatine
2 egg whites
250g/9oz strawberries, hulled and halved (other fruit can be substituted)

  • Lightly oil and line the base and sides of a 20cm/8" springform cake tin with clingfilm. Line the base, over the clingfilm, with baking paper.
  • Pulse the dried fruit in a food processor until finely chopped; add the semolina and blend well. Spread evenly over the base of the tin, then chill.
  • Combine the ricotta and sucralose in a food processor until smooth. Add the fromage frais, lemon zest and juice, then mix well. Transfer to a large bowl.
  • Put 3 tablespoons of water in a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatine in a single layer on to the surface and leave until spongy.
  • Bring a small pan of water to the boil, remove from the heat and place the gelatine bowl in the pan (the water should come halfway up the sides of the bowl). Stir the gelatine until dissolved, then cool slightly. Add the gelatine into the ricotta mixture and stir well.
  • Beat the egg whites until soft peaks form, then gently fold into the ricotta mixture. Pour the mixture into the tin and chill for several hours until set.
  • Carefully remove the cheesecake from the tin, easing the clingfilm from the sides. Us a spatula to help lift the cheesecake off the baking paper.
  • Place on a serving plate and decorate with the strawberries; serve immediately.

Oh my gosh, I love fruit!

Ever since I was little, my grandma's made coconut cream pie, and I love everything about coconut! I also love kiwi, bananas, grapes, watermelon, strawberries, pineapple, and apples!

One thing I love doing is taking a bite of a strawberry and then a bite of pineapple..Or strawberry and then banana..

I love fruit! smile.gif
