With so much digital art on-line, it is truly refreshing to see HP art rendered in traditional art media.
This month's Featured FanArtist is a master at the subtleties when you apply paint to pallet to brush.
She also has a terrific eye for detail, and a wicked sense of humour and irony!

sulkyskrewt

Her character sketches are amazingly full of life and emotion and her comics are laugh-out-loud funny! lol.gif

More of sulkyskrewt's art can be found at deviantART --

Which of her pictures affect you the most? What do you think about the differences between digital and traditional art?
After looking though sulkyskrewt's albums I think you will gain an appreciation for the beauty of paint on canvas!

clap.gif sulktskrewt's work is incredibly diverse! Some are incredibly beautiful, masterful pieces of art, others are side-splitting-ly funny cartoon-style pics. I love 'em all, even the ones that don't correspond to my own imagined images i still find to be very true to the stories.

I found this pick from OotP absolutely heart breaking, I know Tonks's OK afterwards but it was still so moving cry.gif especially considering the events of DH...

One of the reason's I love sulkyskrewt's art is that so many of the images are HYSTERICAL and make me really laugh, while others are drawn so beautifully. I think it's amazing that one person can have two different styles, and pull them off so well! They can make one image which is so rich and vibrant with color, and then in the next depict Snape in the perfect dark greens and shades of black. I can't say which of these styles I prefer, but I know that I love both!

While one of my favorite images doesn't capture sulkyskrewt's great use of both color and darkness, this image:

here in the galleries, captures both the serious, and a more humorous side of their art. Seeing Snape as Mona Lisa always puts a smile on my face!

I've just been browsing sulkyskrewt's gallery for the past hour - what an incredibly talented artist! I love her paintings. I can't stop looking at Carry Harry, one her darker pieces. Voldemort looks completely mental in it, as does Bellatrix. There's a nice symmetry to it. Very eye pleasing.

I also love her Danse Macabre piece. Very colorful and vibrant. It's nice to see all the ones that were lost together again.

And I would definitely agree with blue4t - sulkyskrewt is good with the humor. I can't stop giggling at Voldy getting his bedtime story. Hehehe biggrin.gif

There's something very pleasing to the eye with the traditional art pieces, at least for me. I guess I would say I prefer them, but that's not to say I don't also enjoy digital art. smile.gif

That is one of my personal favourites, too, ~Mrs.Brisby~ --

It is funny, ironic, sad and touching, all at the same time. It is that infinite and indescribable quality of joy and longing that sets both sulkyskrewt's art and Jo Rowling's writing apart from the rest.

Simply amazing! excited.gif

I am agreeing with both of you. It was beautiful to see all of the one's we've lost leaving happily [even if some had an unhappy face at the moment] in the afterlife. EXCEPT for Voldy of course, sitting there in the background.

Thanks guys for the lovely comments on my HP paintings and cartoons. Harry Potter was the reason I got into painting again in a big way and so it will always have a special place in my heart, being the kick in backside I needed to get creative again.

Also, thank you Jamie and Kimmy for choosing me as featured fanArtist. I'm honoured to be chosen, especially as there are so many other amazingly talented artists in the HP fanart universe. I'm bloody chuffed!

Cheers,

Sulkyskrewt.

Thanks for stopping by, Sulkyskrewt! smile.gif

One of my absolute FAVOURITE pieces of HP FanArt is this one for Deathly Hallows of Harry and the fiendfyre --

Here in the FanArt Gallery

The thing that is so amazing about this vision is that you can see and almost FEEL the heat. Superbly done!
