It's here! Jo's Harry Potter prequel featuring an 800 word short story with James and Sirius has been released. You can read about the story here.

Do you want Jo to write more Harry Potter prequels?

What are your thoughts on this one?

What topic would you want covered in any prequels she might write about in the future?

Read the Prequel here.

You can still vote and discuss in What had you hoped the Prequel would be about? Or, if JKR writes more, what story should it tell?

Our old prerelease topic on possible prequel topics is here.

If you don't want to know anything about the prequel until you have your card in your hand, don't read below.

Spoliers for Harry Potter Prequel Card below.

yes, yes, yes!

I loved the story. It made me a little sad tho, knowing she's not currently writing anymore HP stuff.

I would love to see more about the Marauder's friendship. They seem like they'd be a fascinating group as kids/young adults!

The real backstory is in the 1st rise of LV -- there's enough there for sure to make a nice, fat, prequel.

Book sized next time Jo, I know you say no, but c'mon! lol! 800 words was just enough to get us worked up ;)

I think I was intially annoyed with Sirius/James for acting and being so reckless. Then I realised that they have probably just come of age and are doing a celebration of that. Rather sad to see them having to deal with Death Eaters, they were saying some really funny lines. I also still love Jo's style "The cop car crawled foward like a predator" pretty good stuff for just 800 words.

I certainly wouldn't mind some more Marauder stuff but I still want to see Founder Times events as well. So much history in her world.

So here's to hoping she finds herself wanting to go back to that time or any time in the HP world *hehe*

I loved it. I liked the humour in it. The fact muggle policemen getting caught up in what appears to be James/Sirius being chased by DE's lol.gif Though not sure if I like to see a prequal being written. I think it would detract from the greatness of the HP series IMO. But, if I was pushed, I certainly like to hear more about Dumbledore and of course the Marauders

If you ever read this, just know that there are people in this world who are eager with all their heart to read more of anything from you. Be it a weather report or an advertisement for hair oil; a recipe for rock cakes or an article about 17th century engraving techniques, it doesn't matter. Of course, anything to do with Harry Potter will be even more of a joy to have. So, please, please, please do write anything you wish - prequels, sequels, stories, whatever !

We love you so much !!! heart.gif

The bit about the names was cute--and reminiscent of Fred and George. lol.gif

I don't know if it's an intentional reference or a name she just likes, but Wilberforce was a staunch (British) abolitionist. cool.gif

I kind of agree with Lord Monty. I would love to have a prequel, but I'd be afraid it wouldn't measure up to the original series. Visions of George Lucas are lumbering through my head. starwars.gif

My opinion on the prequel is thus...

I think the idea of a prequel to the seven books is a brilliant idea... I would prefer reading a full prequel to a full epilogue...

My reasons for this is, although i do find the last section of Deathly Hallows good and informative, i do think it lacks the spark and thrill to what i would get when reading about death eater fights against the Order etc. What the previous Order was like would be a very big part of this prequel, how they did things differently back then when only have a fraction of members in comparison to LV.

Dumbledore for me still has lots more to show i believe. Yes we do get to see a lot more of his true character in the HBP ( in terms of physical ability) and in DH ( in terms of childhood) but i would be interested in the inbetween part. What Dumbledore was like as a wizard, for example his fight with Grindelwald - what kind of magic he used. We rarely got to see DD in dueling action throughout the series, minus a little snippet of LV in the Ministry of Magic.

I find DD magical ability very much something of interest. To see this in action for the first war would be my wish granted smile.gif

So yes a prequel is a good idea, but only if it was done in full, not little snippets.

I abolsolutely loved it! ELVENDORK!

I'm not sure about Jo writing prequels... I mean, I could read her writing all day every day, there's no better feeling than reading HP for the first time, but I've kind of come to terms with the fact that it's over now [it took me a while & lots of tears!] and I don't want to have to do that again!

I liked it quite a bit. As with this generation of young people, I belonged to a generation where the young men and a few women went from school books to the battle field in a matter of months. I hope she writes more about the first war: James and Lily's wedding, Sirius house; the last time Sirius saw Regulus and what was said..., I wonder as they were in hiding, if Sirius and James became midwives, or did Emmeline or Mcgonagall help Lily? Harry's Christening, Sirius and James holding Harry for the first time. Lupin after he realized James and Sirius suspected he was the traitor and why he suspected Sirius. Sirius and James relationship with Molly's brothers?

So much I'd like to know!!
