Some of my favorite "awww" moments are the ones when we see Harry being accepted into the Weasley's home, family and hearts. He's never known that kind of affection and acceptance and it's so emotional for me to see him finally experiencing that. All the moments when Ron and Hermione reaffirm their solidarity with Harry rank right up there too. In OotP, Molly's boggart was an extremely powerful scene, one of many that had me soaking the pages of my books. And then Neville's declaration of loyalty to Harry through his poor, broken nose - I loved that! I'm so glad that Neville finally got the recognition he deserved for his bravery. As a matter of fact, I would list another "awww" moment from DH, as when his Gran found out he was out fighting and said something along the lines of, "Of course he is."
The family moments, especially Percy making up with Fred and the rest of his family, rate lots of "awww" power. Another is when Molly and Arthur gave Harry Molly's brother's watch, wow! That was so special. I wonder if that was when Harry really "got it" that he was part of their family.
As for "ewww" moments, there really were quite a few. They got more numerous (and more gruesome) as the series went on. The slug-vomiting in CoS just about did me in. EEK! So did the food at the deathday party. That was just all kinds of nasty. The blood flavored lollipops and cockroach clusters I can not even fathom. (I despise bugs anyway!) In GoF, Sirius living off rats wasn't just an "ewww" moment, it was very sad to me, but it showed just how much Sirius cared for Harry and I was glad JKR used that to show us. In HBP, I was shocked when Draco stamped on Harry's face. Shocked and disturbed. It was disturbing because of just how cruel Draco was. Earlier in the series, he was mean, but he seemed to me to be a bully - one that was a lot of talk, a lot of swagger, but not a lot of action. Guess he proved me wrong. The inferi were pretty icky too. That was quite scary to me. I don't know if I just have too vivid an imagination or if it's JKR's skill, but so many things gave me clear mental images. The inferi is one mental image I'd like to have missed. In DH, Nagini using Bathilda's body...*shudder*...the smell that was mentioned...ewww!
This makes me want to go back and start at the beginning.... Great poll!

I had to vote for three different 'aww' moments in DH. There were too many to just choose one! Harry's parents, as well as Sirius and Lupin, walking with Harry into the forest always got me. Then, of course, there was the Snape quote. Dobby's death was pretty touching too. To add one, I thought that the 'not my daughter you b----' from Molly Weasley was pretty 'aww'-ish too. Kick butt, yes, but still, the fact that she'd take on Voldemort's right hand woman to avenge her son and to protect her daughter said a lot about how much she cared for her children.
Just the way some of these were written made me lean certain ways, I'll have to admit. The events listed above that were described in, er, gross detail tended to stand out to me as more gross.

I practically chose all of the DH ones for Awww's. One that wasn't mentioned on the poll was when Harry woke up the morning in Grimmauld Place and saw that Ron and Hermione's hands were close to each other. Then he felt slightly lonely because he thought they went to sleep holding hands. That part made me squeal with delight and tear up. =]
When Harry was "killed" by the Avada Kedavra curse in "The Forest Again." I thought he was gone, and cried my eyes out. It was truly an "Awwww" moment.
Dobby's death is pretty much at the top of Aww lists. The way he went out of the world was just ... heartbreaking. I seriously was shaking with tears. It was just really sad. His last words were Harry Potter, and that just literally broke my heart!
An EWWW moment in Deathly Hallows was Bathilda. Ugh. The fact that the snake came out of her neck was weird! And slightly scary, by the way. I can't wait to see it on the big screen though. That'll be good.
For Half-Blood Prince, it's obviously Ginny and Harry's kiss. When I first read that, I nearly died of happiness. I read it about 50 times before I could read the rest of the book. Haha. And of course, it wasn't mentioned in the poll, but when Dumbledore said "I am not worried Harry. I am with you." *tear
And there are too many to write about! And I've got to go to sleep! Lol. [It's past midnight.]

I agree %100. ( apart from the sleep thing, I really am not tired ) The only thing I would add would be the Ron/Hermione kiss to the " Awwww" sections

How to make a worthy reply to such a neat poll? So, I voted for pretty much all the Awws and Ewws because I totally would have chosen them. For me, some of the most Eww things are Pettigrew cutting his hand off, the spiders, and Moody's eye in the door Snapes underpants were not an Eww moment for me, instead I thought the whole memory is sad so I didnt vote for that as an Eww thing, and "Alas! Earwax!" is one of the coolest things but pretty much everything weird that DD says is cool lol. I use "Alas! Earwax!" as a regular expression Snape & Dobby's deaths (& pretty much all of DH) was a major Aww moment for me

First of all what a fantastic poll - hard choices to make but here goes! PS Awww Harry seeing his family in the Mirror of Erised – this is one my favourite chapters in the whole series. Harry only vaguely remembers his parents so being able to see them must have meant so much. However, I agree with Dumbledore, when he says that the Mirror can drive people mad. Ewww Quirrell's hands and face blistering and burning when he touched Harry – pretty horribly described! I certainly did not suspect Quirrell as a villain on first reading. Other I think Harry’s realisation that he is a wizard is a awww moment too!
Cos Awww Dobby's gratitude to Harry for freeing him from the Malfoys – Dobby tried hard to keep Harry away from Hogwarts. But Dobby was a faithful friend to Harry right up to the end. Dobby deserved to be a free elf! Ginny's Valentine to Harry - "his eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad" – this could also be considered one of the funniest parts too. It’s so typically Lockhart! Ewww Spiders abseiling from the trees – I am not too fond of spiders, and maybe this is why Chamber of Secrets is one of my least favourites in the series Ron vomiting slugs – again, Jo described it too well!
PoA Awww Sirius inviting Harry to live with him, Harry accepting and seeing "the first true smile" – what a amazing moment for Harry! To discover he wouldn’t have to live with the Dursleys any more. It was a turning point for Harry and Sirius. Ewww The dementor's hand - "glistening, greyish, slimy-looking and scabbed, like something dead that had decayed in water" – Dementors are one of the horribly described creatures in the series. They suck the happiness out of everyone Peter cutting off his own finger to frame Sirius for his death – Peter must have been pretty desperate to frame his best friend and to stay in Voldemort’s power. Other I think the character of Remus Lupin can be summed up as one big awww. The way he gave Neville the confidence of facing his Boggart (and didn’t Snape look attractive in a Vulture’s hat? ) and he was the best DADA teacher in the whole series, (apart from Harry!)
Gof Awww Professor Sprout telling Professor Moody that Neville was good at Herbology – another turning point for Neville. He didn’t do very well in most lessons. I don’t know if Sprout really told “Moody” or not, though. Ewww Voldemort's rebirthing potion – a pretty horrible description, and a horrible way for Cedric to die. Voldemort is growing stronger! Other Moody was a frightening character and the Veritserum scene was very vivid.
OotP Awww Molly's Boggart – Molly had a very hard time of it in book five. She had to look after the OoTP as well as the Weasley clan. Molly’s Boggart showed what a lot of us fear. Neville's gran giving him the toffee wrappers – what can I say? This particular chapter is one of my three top chapters in the whole series. I felt so sorry for Neville, the way his parents did not recognise him Ewww Umbridge's detention quill – I hate the thought of Harry having to write lines in his own blood House elf heads mounted on the wall – Mistress Black had a very peculiar ideas on home décor! Other I think we could consider the whole of Grimmauld Place a definite ewwww!
HBP Awww Ginny and Harry's first kiss – well it DID take them six whole books! I thought the development of the relationship was very nicely done. Dumbledore's funeral – was very well written and the way Fawkes left after Dumbledore died was heartbreaking Ewww The Inferi in the cave – I think the Inferi are nearly as frightening as Dementors. I couldn’t imagine anything worse than dead people floating about! Fenrir licking his lips and picking his teeth with a yellow fingernail -– another horrible character. Unlike Remus, who felt uncomfortable being a werewolf, he enjoyed it, and loved killing Other The simple “I am not afraid, Harry. I am with you.” was a very emotional line with the awww factor.
DH I think I picked the most in this section! Awww Dobby's death – I literally sobbed more or less the entire chapter. The most touching bit was Harry digging his grave without magic. Kreacher taking care of the trio – I loved the personality change of Kreacher It is amazing how a bit of mutual understanding works wonders. Sirius, Lupin, James and Lily walking into the forest with Harry – “"Dying? No easier than falling asleep"”, some of the most powerful words in the entire series. Fred and Percy making up – and about time too! Percy was the “black sheep” of the Weasleys, he never really fitted in. How ironic that they were fighting together against the Ministry official. Ewww George losing an ear - and even though it was horrible, George never lost his sense of humour! Entering the Ministry by flushing oneself down the toilet – original, I grant you, but still pretty graphically described! Bathilda's body being used by Nagini – one of the most horribly described bits of the book Moody's magical eye in Umbridge's door – makes you wonder how Umbridge got it! Other How can I not mention Neville facing Voldemort (“I’ll join your army when Hell freezes over!”), pulling the sword out of the stone hat and proving he was a real Gryffindor?
