Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets contains so many funny sayings it is difficult to pick out which ones would be most amusing.
Pick out what you think are the funniest sayings and, if you know of better ones it would be great if you shared them with us.
Answers to who said what are below:
1.Harry 2.Harry 3.George 4.Mrs Weasley 5.Harry 6.Lockhart 7.Ron 8.Ron 9.George 10.Ron 11.Professor Binns 12.Ron 13.Ron 14.Ron 15.Ron 16.Madame Pomfrey 17.Lockhart/Harry interchange 18.Fred 19.Draco Malfoy 20.Ron
The same applies to the list of events in the poll. You may find some events are more humourous than others in the story. Some comedy depends on someone getting their just desserts, such as what happened to Gilderoy Lockhart or Dobby getting freed. But other situations is when the hero, himself, falls flat, like when Ron jinxes himself with his own wand. Other comic situations depend on the behaviour of the characters, such as Gilderoy's ineptness or Ron's scathing attitude to Hermione's crush crush on him. What do you think about Draco's attempts at humour at the expense of our trio? Or Fred and George's ability to make light of an otherwise nasty situation?
What do you find funny? And yes, you may vote for more than one option.

I freely admit that Chamber of Secrets was my least favourite in the whole series. Perhaps it was the spiders ... Howerever, there were some hysterical lines in Chamber of Secrets. I voted for Imagine a wizard buying a rusty old car and telling his wife that all he wanted to do with it was take it apart to see how it worked, while really he was enchanting it to make it fly. (Molly at her best!) and Make way for the Heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through...(Typical Fred and George). But my personal favourite:
QUOTE "Your sons flew that car to Harry's house and back last night!" shouted Mrs Weasley. "What have you got to say about that, eh?" "Did you really?" said Mr Weasley eagerly. "Did it go all right? I - I mean," he faltered, as sparks flew from Mrs Weasley's eyes. "that was very wrong, boys - very wrong indeed ... " (Chapter Three, The Burrow) Gilderoy Lockhart's performance as DADA teacher was the funniest event for me. And anything with Dobby in it. Some people dislike Gilderoy but I think he is great, as comic value One of the funniest events in the whole book was the Valentine sent to Harry by a certain somebody ...
QUOTE "His eyes are as a fresh pickled toad, His hair is as dark as a blackboard I wish he was mine, he's really divine The hero who conquered the Dark Lord." (Chapter Thirteen, The Very Secret Diary)

My favorite part had to be: Fred and George, however, thought this was all very funny. They went out of their way to march ahead of Harry down the corridors, shouting, "Make way for the Heir of Slytherin, seriously evil wizard coming through..." Percy was deeply dissaproving of this behavior. "It is not a laughing matter," he said coldly. "Oh, get out of the way, Percy," said Fred, "Harry's in a hurry." "Yeah, he's off to the Chamber of Secrets for a cup of tea with his fanged servent," said George, chortling. (Chapter 12 pg. 210)
Wow, I loved this part! It makes me laugh so much!

Aw, you forgot about Lockhart losing his mind at the end! I thought that was HILARIOUS, and all of his comments were so funny!
"Amazing! Amazing! This is just like magic!"
"Sword? Haven't got a sword. That boy has, though." He pointed at Harry. "He'll lend you one."
Those were the funniest lines in the book

There are so many to choose from !!!
Harry complimenting Dudley on having learnt the days of the week is so typical of his father - James' wit seems very apparent in him sometimes.
Then there's Lockhart's instructions to Harry on how to disarm and Harry's question to him - "What ? Drop my wand ?" So funny !
And I have to admit, I loved Draco's 'going backwards' statement to Goyle. I think it's the only thing Draco has in common with Ron - his estimate of Goyle.
Fred and George are at their usual top of course, no need to say anything further.
For situations, I love the Valentine's day celebrations. All of it ! Snape looking like he would force-feed poison to the first person who asked him for a love potion makes me laugh uncontrollably. And who can forget the singing dwarf who delivered Ginny's Valentine message to Harry ? "His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad ..." Priceless.
