What'd you think of the actual Chamber of Secrets? Not the book, but the actual location. Although it was a horrific place, considering the fact that a basilisk lives in there and attacked students, I still think it was actually (if you think about it) an amazing place!
For one thing, I think it's so amazing that the chamber is miles under the school and under the lake! Imagine that, being under the school, the ground, and underneath the lake! I think that's so cool Also, I think that the Slytherin's symbol is the most beautiful, being the serpent. It's so mysterious to me, unlike the Lion of Gryffindor. I mean really think about it, would you rather be in a chamber underneath the ground, miles and miles beneath, decorated with lion carvings or serpents? I think that the serpents make for a much more interesting description.
QUOTE Towering stone pillars entwined with more carved serpents rose to support a ceiling lost in darkness, casting long, black shadows through the odd, greenish gloom that filled the place.
Wow. How AMAZING does that sound? Mrs. Rowling surely does know how to describe a place, and make you seem like you're there with them. That description, to me, makes the chamber seem more marvelous than most of the architects mentioned in the whole epic tale of Harry Potter. The cover art does not do the chamber justice, but I do think the movie does it more justice than the illustration.
What are your thoughts on the Chamber of Secrets?
Some questions to ponder over....
- Why was the Chamber of Secrets created so fanciful, and amazing in it's own right? How did Salazar make this chamber all by himself (or did he)?
- Where did the basilisk come from? Salazar could've breed it, but the thing is, why? Why did he go to all the trouble to create this chamber, wait for his heir to come, and unleash the basilisk for those who were "unworthy to study magic?" Do you not think he could've done this all by himself, by just telling the basilisk to kill the muggle-borns, instead of making this whole legend, chamber, and possibly breeding this serpent himself?
You can also add any questions for yourself, or just say anything that's on your mind on the topic!

Spoooooooky is my word for it. No way to describe it in terms of how scary it is. The descriptions in the book and what we saw in the movie made it seem very frightening. I do believe though that the chamber of secrets made the second book and film all the more darker.
The monument, statue or whatever you want to call in the chamber of secrets was of Salazar Slytherin if I am correct. As for the basilisk, he breeded it because of the whole situation with Muggles, Mixed Bloods and Purebloods. He only wanted Purebloods to attend Hogwarts, The other 3 founder, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff, and Godric Gryffindor did not agree on this.
They felt any student willing to learn about magic should have a chance. For that reason Salazar created a Chamber of Secrets at first and breeded a basilisk to prevent the non - purebloods from attending the school, but immediately left after all 4 founders broke out.

Great answer ! But I was kind of asking, why do you think he made the chamber when he could've just killed all the non-purebloods himself? Or with the help of his basilisk? Do you think he really had to create such a huge chamber, decorative, and so secretive?

Woops O.o you're right, wonder why I typed that. Yeah, people knew about the chamber of secrets 50 years ago there were just uncertainties about whether it was a myth or an actual real chamber. Thanks for the correction
