I had been planning to go and get the book at midnight, but there had been flooding and my parents didn't want to try going into town in case we got stuck. It was really irritating - I can see why they said it, but it was annoying thinking that I had to wait. In the end we went into town in the morning, and I started to read on the way home. I more or less didn't stop until I'd finished reading. Althgouh it was good to know how everything ends, at the same time it was sad, and I felt kind of empty, knowing that all the books had come and gone, and I wonder if there'll ever be something quite like waiting for the next Harry Potter.

I remember that I wanted to go to Borders a few hours before midnight, because they were having a Harry Potter party. I was hoping some of my friends that were HP fans would be going, but none of them did, so I didn't end up going to the party. But I did go to Borders at 11:00pm, and wait in line at midnight for the book. I started reading it as soon as I got in the car to go home, even though I could barely see what I was reading because it was dark outside. I wasn't allowed to read it at night because my parents said they would take it away if I did. And I couldn't read it nonstop because I had to go to a funeral the next day, but I read it on the way there, and on the way back, and finished it the next day. I remember I was at the beach with my family and my sister's friend's family, and I remember as soon as I finished I told everybody who died and who didn't and what happened and stuff (no one in my family or my sister's friend's family is a HP fan). But it seemed so unreal that it was over. I knew that Deathly Hallows was the last book, and what happened in there was really the end, but it felt like it wasn't real, or true, or something, that I'd still be waiting excitedly for another book. When I finally accepted it was the end, I was quite sad, but also quite happy to know what happened and how it ended.

I actually got the book around November/December (can't remember exactly when). I had to read half in the evening and go to sleep. I finished it in the morning and sat there thinking.

--------------------
As each and every piece of his home swirled around him and into the sky, his body was covered with cuts and gashes. As the last shard hit him and flew up, he collapsed, wondering how long it would be until he bled to death. Crying, he fell asleep; hoping that when he woke up, the house would be there...

I can vividly remember the build up to Deathly Hallows. For some strange reason, the Moderators were "rather busy" on the Lounge lol.gif On the night before it was released, I remember talking to all my friends, all over the world, and at midnight we all listened to Jo, through the internet, reading the first chapter. I remember whooping when Voldemort said Remus and Tonks had married - although it took me a few seconds to realise who Narcissa and Bella's niece was. And feeling sickened the way Professor Burbage was calously killed. How I managed to sleep after getting that teaser is anyone's guess smile.gif I had my book and audio CD ordered at my local bookstore, so had to wait for Mum to take me to collect it. That was about 10 am. I hurried home and spent a blissful three days digesting the best ending to a wonderful series excited.gif

I went to Barnes & Noble at about 9:00 dressed up as Trelawney. My sisters were Luna and Hermione, my mom was Madam Pomfrey (she really is a nurse), and my bro attempted to dress as Harry, but he wound up with just glasses & a scar on his forehead.

We had to wait outside the building for a while and they were doing trivia. My siblings and I got so many questions right that the people stopped calling on us. Eventually we got inside and did all the activities. We also 'stalked Snape'. There was a guy there dressed as Snape (one of the employees) and we followed him around a lot.

I started the book at 6:30 in the morning after only a couple hours sleep. I was at my neighbor's house taking care of their dog. I put the dog outside and then started the book. I read pretty much non-stop all day. I only took breaks to eat, take care of the dog, and take care of my dog, and go to the bathroom. I finished it at 10pm or so on the couch in my family room, only a few feet from where I first read Sorcerer's Stone.

The second half of 2007 was just so awesome! I wish I could get a time-turner and relive it all.

When I got the book, I couldn't open it. Like, physically, couldn't do it. And then, I finally did, and I forced myself to read every word of the dedication and those poems and that page of tiny text that's at the start of every book, to prolong it as much as possible. Then I started reading. And didn't stop.

I ran around yelling with excitement when I found out the thing about Dumbledore's past, because I'd always had this theory that Dumbledore had once been involved in Dark things.

I basically stayed up for as long as possible, then fell asleep just after Snape's death. It's probably a good thing I did, because I was getting so tired I wasn't enjoying myself, and if I'd read any further I would have gotten to the bit where Harry has to die, and then I NEVER would have been able to stop. I probably wouldn't have enjoyed the ending so much.

In the end, I woke up, read the rest, then went straight to Leaky.

I was working late the night DH came out, and when I got out I went straight to bed. But I picked it up the next morning on my way to work...

It was quite possibly the stupidest thing I'd ever done.

The agony was immense. I waited and waited and finally when i couldn't take it anymore I took advantage of the fact that the manager wasn't coming in that day and sat and read on the footstool behind the cash register. I took a full hour lunch break, and as many 5 minute bathroom breaks as I could. My co-worker was blessedly understanding of my situation.

Oh what a day that was. blush.gif

I remember that night so vividly, it was so...I can't even describe it. Haha, mine will be rather long.

Me and 3 friends of mine went to the midnight release party at Books-A-Million. We'd all preordered our books so we got them handed to us right at midnight. We got there a few hours early, for the party they were having. They divided us into age groups, mine being 13-16, and gave us a Hogwarts badge for whichever age group we were in. Our's was Ravenclaw. (I later attatched it to my purse) Haha, you can imagine that I was psyched to be there, I'd never been to a midnight release before, so it was all new to me, and for the most anticipated book practically ever? I thought midnight would never come. But after that they did trivia and prizes and such which lasted a little while, and finally it was just the big countdown.

You could tell that everyone in the place was slightly on edge, some people already forming a line. Luckily my friends mom came along and saved us a spot up front. The line wrapped around the whole store. When it was finally midnight, I remember literally jumping up and down and hyperventilating. The lady at the register handed me my book and we went running out the door. Right away, all 4 of us started reading in the car.

By the time we got home I'd finished the first chapter, but we were so psyched we couldn't focus. So finally we just put it down and tried not to spoil it for ourselves. We ended up staying up all night and when I got home the next day after being up for 24 hours, I picked it up and got pretty far before I crashed. The next day when I woke up, I started reading and didn't put it down until I'd finished it.

I remember it was about 4am when I finished. I went into the kitchen, with bloodshot eyes and tangled hair, and ate chocolate chip cookies and milk and cried for like half an hour. It kind of felt like I had a hole in me, you know? Something that had been part of me for so long was finally over, it was so weird to think about.

Of course I kept myself up thinking over everything that had happened...ahh. cry.gif I'm so lame. Oh well. It's something I'll never forget, and I'm glad to have had that experience.

I remember my family and I were on Vacation in Gulf Shores. The day before it came out, I told my mom that we are going to find a bookstore and pre-order it. So we did. The next day, I woke up at seven, then my mom drove me to get it. I remember opening it's cover, stopping to read everything before. Both poems mesmorized me, and the dedication was so heartfelt. I remember trying to skip the chapter list, but I couldn't help but see "The Seven Potters" which got me extrememly excited. I read the first chapter back to the hotel. Whenever we got to the room, my cousins and brother were going to the beach so I joined them, bringing Deathly Hallows along. I remember, on the way down, someone asked me if that was the latest Harry Potter book. I just smiled, and said yes. I remember wanting to cry on the beach because i reached Hedwig's death, but I didn't. I read all day, only stopping for lunch, as I read and ate dinner at the same time because we ordered in. By the time I reached Fred's death, it was 10:30, and I was alone. I started bawling out of no where. I finally put myself back together. I remeber reading up until the final chapter. I looked at the clock, it said 11. I told myself I would stop and sleep. I don't think I could have finished it all in one day just because of the emotion. I woke up and finished it, smiling to myself the rest of the day. I read it twice more before heading home. I loved that day. blush.gif
