Petunia in Diagon Alley?, Did she ever visit the Magical World?

We found out in Deathly Hallows that Petunia, despite her suspisions and misgivings about the Magical World, wrote to Dumbledore to request a place at Hogwarts. We know that Muggle parents accompany their children to Diagon Alley ( Hermione's parents for example) to buy school materials and exchange currency. So, I wonder whether the Evans ever took Petunia along when they bought school materials for Lily? Of course, this is purely speculation- I have no knowledge of this topic ever coming up in interviews ( correct me if I'm wrong!) but I would like to know everyone's opinion of what could have been.

Seeing how she turned on Lily when seeing her off the train 1st year she might refuse the offer to go.
"Why would I want to see a bunch of freaks" of course since we know she was really envious of her sister maybe she did go.

Come to think about it, I should have posted this in Pre-Book One. Sorry. In reply to your comment: Petunia was nasty when seeing her off on the train, but going to Diagon Alley would have happened before that. The fact that she went to the train station shows that she had some contact with the Magical world.

Ya know i never really thought about this...
If Petunia was included in the trip to Platform 9 three-quarters, i dont see why she wouldnt also be included in the trip to Diagon Alley.

The real question for me is, if she did goto Diagon Alley, did she go before or after her rejection letter from the Hogwarts Headmaster? If she went before she got the letter, then i can see her in Diagon Alley begging her parents for a wand of her own, and her own broomstick, and stuff like that. grin.gif

Lily said that she snuck into Petunia's room, with Severus, and saw the rejection letter from Dumbledore, so King's Cross has to be after Petunia received it.

Jo, being as amazing as she is, would send a covert ops team to hunt down you and everyone that has come in contact with you with knowledge about the leaked book. She'd probably do it herself, seeing as she's so beast, she clears-up her loose ends personally. Like, what Petunia's secret was, and what Lily's eyes meant.

Right but (assuming she did get to goto Diagon Alley) did she goto Diagon Alley before or after she go her rejection letter. Because she went before, then i can picture her being very excited about seeing all the wizarding stuff that she hopes she may one day get to use.

You know, that makes me feel sad for Petunia. Being there and watching her sister embrace this fairytale-like new life...on the other hand, if her parents had only taken Lily to Diagon Alley I am almost sure she would have felt left out too. It was a loose/loose for old Petunia.

I doubt that she ever went to Diagon Alley. When she wasn't taken by Hogwarts I think she reacted to tell herself that only freaks would go there, and she would have nothing to do with such kind of people..

Still, she was a kid ( how much older was she than Lily?) and she displayed interest in Hogwarts once Lily got her letter. I believe that at some level, had she been chosen, she would have been delighted to go along and forget all her prejudice. I still think that her parents may have taken her along to Diagon Alley.
