We have had polls asking you who you think is the best teacher, (here's the one in NMN itself) but this one is different. It excludes all the known teachers, enumerating those who were old enough to have taught Harry when he was at Hogwarts. ponder.gif

Who, among these non-teaching characters, would make a good teacher ~ the best one ?
And also the person whom you think would be the worst
!

So come along and vote for the one you think you'd love (and hate) to have as a teacher and do please give the reasons for voting the way you do. happy.gif

You may vote for more than one person on the list.

BEST:
I think Lily is the obvious answere for who'd be best, she seemed to be patient, friendly,smart.. she'd be a great teacher

Tonks could also be a good teacher, I think she'd be very practical, fun

Kingsley, I just think he'd be a good teacher as well

---
WORST:
Vernon would probably be worst, he must be the worst teacher ever... he's angry, impatient and racist

Bellatrix, Voldemort = crazy..

I came up with a similar answer.

Best would be Lily for me. She was described as so patient, loving, kind, and accepting of others (just like how she cared for Snape). I think she would have been such a wonderful teacher.

Worst would be LV since he would have used his power and control over the students to manipulate them in any way he desired. They wouldn't learn anything. Bellatrix would have had the worst temper. If Umbridge was bad... I bet students wouldn't survive detention with these two as teachers.

For best I said Arthur. Molly actually did home school all her children, but I imagine she would be rather strict. I think Arthur would make learning enjoyable, he's very patient (raised Fred & George) tolerant.
I imagine his teaching style would be rather like Lupin's.
For worst I said Vernon. The man has no patients, he's angry, bigoted, he's like Snape without the knowledge. (who BTW I consider a dreadful teacher)

For the best, I choose: Lily Potter - sensible, kind, helpful
Kingsley Shacklebolt - smart, seems to be a good leader, and role model
Arthur Weasley - kind, helpful, and I would imagine quite patient with students

For the worst: Vernon Dursley - far too angry, would probably have favourites, and just unhelpful to students weaker at his subject
Lucius Malfoy - too wrapped up in the Dark Arts and trying to get things his own way
Narcissa Malfoy - again too close to the Dark Arts. I don't think this is the kind of thing to pass on to students
Bellatrix Lestrange - too evil, would be impatient, and would completely misunderstand students.
Lord Voldemort - as RubyRose says, would try to manipulate students, and would teach them Dark magic, which you don't really want being taught.

lily would be the nicest teacher, like the ones in kindergarten and elementary school.
kingley would be the professeur in universities
tonks would be a rly cool teacher like hagrid ( showing the children cool things like the hippogriff), but too clumsy

the worst has to be voldemort:
'WHERE'S UR HOMEWORK?!'
'I forgot.'
'AVADA KEDAVRA!'
(student collapse)

or Bellatrix:
(same as above except she uses crucio.)

I'd like to see Voldemort as a primary school teacher. The kids would be absolutely delighted to have a teacher with this caring and friendly demeanour. rolleyes.gif

Even though I didn't vote for Lily, I agree with everyone else who said she'd make a good one.

For the best, I said Kingsley - he's knowledgable, patient, and has good communication (that deep, calm voice is perfect for a teacher) - and other: Hermione. Hermione is knowledgable, patient, and has really good people skills. I also think Tom Riddle (before he transformed into LV) would have actually had the potential for being a good teacher if he put the effort into it. Again, he's knowledgable, but he also has a knack for charming people, and earning their trust. Even though he would always fake this charm to convert the trust of others into another disposable resource, if he really wanted to help people learn, he would have been able to do a good job.

For worst, Vernon, hands down. No patience, a harsh disciplinarian, rude, ignorant, the list goes on.

I agree with this. I picked Kingsley for best teacher and Vernon for worst.

It's always been my experience that the best teachers are the ones that have had a lot of practical experience, and can be patient enough to pass what they've learned on to others. Lupin is a prime example of that. He was an excellent DADA teacher because he had practical experience with the subject. I think Kingsley would be the same.

My second choice would have to be Arthur, though. How amazing would he be as a Muggle Studies teacher? A teacher with that level of enthusiasm for his subject would be a teacher that would make the subject fun for his students. Always a good thing.

So for best teachers I chose Lily & Kingsley. We know that Lily is exceptionally gifted at Potions, so she has the skill and ability, and her caring nature would make her a good teacher. Also I chose Kingsley because we know he's capable of doing a huge amount of work, he's highly skilled and he's just plain cool.

For worst, I voted uncle Vernon but I have to wonder why he's the only Muggle in the poll, and, could a Muggle teach at Hogwarts anyhows? But, assuming he can, I think he'd make a lousy teacher, he seems to have no great wisdom to impart and has a foul temper. I also voted Lucius, Narcissa, Bellatrix & LV as worst because while these people do have ability, it seems to be mostly in the Dark Arts and Unforgivable Curses, and I cant see them being fair or compassionate, or welcoming to anyone that didnt agree with their opinions. Umbridge was willing to use an Unforgivable Curse on Harry so it's more than probable that LV & crew would use Unforgivables not only as punishments but as a means of getting information, getting students to quit talking, to do their homework... And they'd likely use their position of authority to assimilate students to their way of thinking.
