Xanaphia, I have not read them, but I did go to Amazon to read the descriptions of the first three books, and they sound intriguing. I have never really been into vampires but after the Twilight saga I am open to other books on the subject. I didn't get from the descriptions, though, what the vampires are like. Are they at all similar to Stephenie Meyer's version? Hopefully they are not the kind who need to sleep in coffins all day and can only come out at night.

Have you read the Goddess Summoning series, also by P.C. Cast?

No they arent like SM's Vampires, but they arent like anyone elses either. These vamps start out as "Fledglings" not full vampires I guess. and they attend the House of night its a school to teach them how to use magick and how vampires live and work after they "make the change" In these books you dont become a vampire by being bitten, its a natural change that happens in certain people. but not everyones body that has been chosen can make the change and they die in the process. its really interesting and really different. I thought they were brilliant!

Wow, I like that they don't have to be bitten. How cool! How do they know they have been chosen?

I just ordered the first 3 books and I'm really anxious to get them--should be about a week, I think.

they know they have been chosen because when it happens they get a blue cresent moon on their forheads, and they start getting sick. but once they make the full change then the moon on their forehead fills in and then they get more tattoo like marks all over the rest of their face and sometimes body.

Then it must be public knowledge that vampires do exist--that's fascinating. I'm starting to have a whole new appreciation for the world of vampires now that I know they are not all like Bela Lugosi. I think I am going to like these books alot.

I went to PC Cast's website and enjoyed finding out a little about her. She even had a few words to say about Breaking Dawn and people's reactions. She also has some House of Night jewelry that was really neat.

I have read the House of Night series and I really enjoyed it! I think I just might have something for boarding school stories (HP anyone?) where these things might exist in real life. I love the tattoo markings that distinguish that the adult vampires receives and how many have special powers like the ability to control the elements.

My only real complaint is that the writing is a little childish at times and the characters can get REALLY teenage whiny at times. I lived through that myself, and don't always like having to go back to that : )

But overall, definitely a good read.

yea the whole magic thing was cool.

as for the teenage whinnyness..... I cant really complain as they are teenagers.... still in highschool and all when they start the change. so I can forgive them for that. smile.gif
