It doesn't matter to me. You could have started reading yesterday and I'm okay with that. As long as you are a fan that's all that matters.

It doesn't matter to me. I am always glad to hear when someone has discovered the books that I've loved since 1999.
In a few years time, I think the newer fans will not realise what we are talking about, when we (the 'old' fans) remember the exciting times we've had, when we had to wait for the next book, trying to guess what would happen to whom, analysing anything J.K. Rowling said in even the shortest interviews. The anticipating of a midnight release is something they'll only come close to if they have to wait for their birthday or Christmas to get the next book. But they'll love the books, and read them again and again, as we do, and that is really all that matters.

Of course! Who do they think they are, jumping in the bandwagon!!
...Kidding.
It doesn't matters at all when you started reading it. In fact, when people who haven't even read them, but are interested ask me a question, I'm very glad to help them.
