i am not sure if this is already a topic (i looked) but i am posting it anyway. i have only been reading the books for about 2 years (give or take) now i know lots of you have been reading them for a decade (or more) does it matter in your eyes how long someone has been a fan? or is the fact that they are a fan at all fine with you?

It doesn't matter to me. You could have started reading yesterday and I'm okay with that. As long as you are a fan that's all that matters. smile.gif

It doesn't matter to me. I am always glad to hear when someone has discovered the books that I've loved since 1999. heart.gif

In a few years time, I think the newer fans will not realise what we are talking about, when we (the 'old' fans) remember the exciting times we've had, when we had to wait for the next book, trying to guess what would happen to whom, analysing anything J.K. Rowling said in even the shortest interviews. The anticipating of a midnight release squee.gif is something they'll only come close to if they have to wait for their birthday or Christmas to get the next book. But they'll love the books, and read them again and again, as we do, and that is really all that matters.

Terena pretty much summed it up for me, iv been reading since i was 6 (im 14 now), so they'v been with me for a while and iv got to experience the midnight releases and stuff which has been great. but as long as you are a fan it doesnt matter, because in the end we are all fans together:)

it doesn't matter at all. I actually am a little jealous of people who have been into hp for 2 yrs or less because that was one of the best times to read them for me - like the 3rd or 4th time rereading them when you're peeling off those first few layers of story. it's totally different now -not bad- just different.

I read PS when I was 10 going on 11, in early 2000. I don't think it makes any difference when you started reading it. You might have had more chances to reread it and catch things if you started reading earlier in the game, but other than that...

Of course! Who do they think they are, jumping in the bandwagon!! lac.gif

...Kidding. tongue.gif

It doesn't matters at all when you started reading it. In fact, when people who haven't even read them, but are interested ask me a question, I'm very glad to help them.

I don't care. I've been reading them since I was old enough to, (like 6) but I was never in-tune to the fan world or anything. So even though I've loved them forever, this is all new to me.
