Hello everyone bye.gif . Goodness the weather is getting so cold now. cold.gif I like to make sure that everyone is keeping nice and warm so when I'm not knitting (I know how much my boys appreciate their sweaters at Christmas) I like to make hot tasty food like Hot Blood Soup

Preparation time less than 30 mins
Cooking time 1 to 2 hours

Ingredients
450g/1lb raw beetroot, well washed
1 tbsp olive oil
2 onions, peeled and sliced
1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed
1 tsp chilli powder
½tbsp tomato purée
2x400g/14oz tins chopped tomatoes
salt and pepper

Method
1. Heat the oven to 200C/400F/Gas 6/medium dragon heat. Wrap the beetroot individually in foil (its a Muggle invention that Arthur brought home) and bake in the oven until tender, about 1 hour. Cool, peel and cut into 1cm/½in dice.

2. Heat the oil in a large saucepan and add the onions and the garlic. Cook for 2-3 minutes until starting to soften. Add the chilli powder and cook for another minute. Add the tomato purée and tins of tomatoes, season well and bring to the boil. Simmer for 15 minutes.

3. Liquidise the soup and add more water if you want it thinner. Stir in the beetroot cubes, heat through and serve with herby garlic bread.

Forgive me for butting in! I do have some experience with high-ranking politicians and royalty, so I am bringing you this scrumptious recipe from a place so Muggle-like and plebeian I normally wouldn't want to visit, if it weren't for my Ministry of Magic duties.

I bring you.....Senator Flo Bjelke-Petersen's famous pumpkin scones, which even Prince Charles enjoyed!

Ingredients: 1 tablespoon butter; 1/2 cup sugar; 1/4 teaspoon salt; 1 egg; 1 cup mashed pumpkin (cold); 2-2 1/4 cups self-raising flour.

Method: Beat together butter, sugar and salt, using an electric mixer. Add egg, then pumpkin. Finally stir in, by hand, sifted flour. Turn onto a floured board and cut. Place on a heated floured tray and cook on the top shelf of a very hot oven (225 degrees C to 250 degrees C ) for 15-20 minutes. By the way, 250 degrees Celsius would be something like 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Go check it out! A bit of culinary maths wouldn't hurt you. Not like my detention quill! Now would I tell a lie?

Dobby has a plate of Harry Potter's Favorite Treacle Tarts but where is Harry Potter? Dobby must find Madame Pomphrey because Peeves took his oven mitts and Dobby burned his hands taking the hot pan from the oven. Dobby would be most grateful if you could help him finish the Treacle Tarts for today's party.

Harry Potter's Favorite Treacle Tarts

Pastry
1 1/4 cups flour
1 pinch salt
1/4 lb butter, chilled
2 tablespoons superfine sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons ice water

Filling
1 teaspoon lemon zest
1/2 cup rolled oat
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 cup golden syrup
2 tablespoons lemon juice

Garnish
whipped cream

Directions
1Prepare the pastry as for pie crust and chill for 30 minutes.
2Roll out for a 9 inch tart pan. Reserve the scraps. Trim the edges and retain the scraps.
3Preheat oven to 400°F.
4Mix the oats, zest, and ginger, and sprinkle half in the pastry. Pour on the syrup and lemon juice and sprinkle rest of oat mixture on top.
5Roll out any remaining pastry and cut strips to lay a trellis over the tart if desired.
6Bake for 30 minutes and serve hot or cold.

Try this lovely cup of tea! Firstly you boil the kettle, put tea leaves in the tea pot, fill it up with the boiled water, and then let it stand. Pour out as required and serve with milk, sugar, lemon juice or my favourite!

Yes, VERITASERUM!!!
