Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, as the sixth book in the series, featured some of the most diverse and even frightening cover art from around the world. The Bloomsbury UK "adult" cover was unique in featuring the HBP's potion book itself --

Here in the TLC Image Gallery

Many artists chose to feature Harry and Dumbledore in the cave, which is, without a doubt, one of the most chilling and terrifying sequences in the entire series. The Ukranian artist, Vladyslav Yerko, offers his amazing vision of this scene --

Possibly the strangest international cover is this one from Finland. Other than Harry morphing into Pinnochio, I have NO IDEA what is going on here! lol.gif

The US artist, Mary GrandPre produces both the book covers as well as the inside chapter art. For the final 3 books she also produced unique full-cover dust jackets which had completely different art from that on the actual book cover. Here is the wrapper for HBP featuring Bob Ogden's memory from the pensieve --

Here in the Galleries

And from chapter 19 ("Elf Tales") we see Dobby and Kreacher reporting to Harry --

Spend some time in the TLC Book Cover Gallery as well as amongst the chapter art. Come back to tell us which ones you liked best, and which ones that were way off-mark! type.gif

Oh how I agree! That Ukrainian cover says it all, even though the script is Cyrillic.

I don't know what is happening in this picture exactly. Harry seems to be looking up the Half-blood Prince book, with Dumbledore and perhaps Ginny Weasley looking on. The house in the background looks suspiciously like a Moominhouse. (Tove Janssen wrote the Moomin series, a most enjoyable read, even in English)

Yes, I really like this picture of following Bob Ogden in the first Pensieve memory. A pity it is that this memory won't be included in the film.

Isn't it great to see these two house-elves together? I have to emphasize that the British edition doesn't have chapter art, even in the Children's edition.

I do like seeing Dobby and Kreacher together, and I bet Peeves did too. But unfortunately this time, I am completely unable to say which book art picture I liked best out of the Ukrainian one and the one which includes Bob Ogden.

I agree. It's not my absolute favorite (I'm partial to the American editions, being from the US), but it's quite beautiful. I really like the different artwork for HBP, a lot more than other books.

I pretty much agree. The Ukrainian cover is very nice, but I also like the American editions. In addition, I think the Denmark cover is quite stunning.

I have always liked the style of the UK Adult cover for HBP. thumbup.gif The publishers have gone to a lot of effort with this one, in designing the book and taking the photograph. It matches my idea of what Snape's old potions book would look like, all dog-eared and well-thumbed.

Also I think the Danish cover stands out, style-wise. smile.gif Harry's face is all concentration and fear as he leans over the water to fill the goblet for Dumbledore to drink, while the Inferi creep up on them.
