Now, don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have it, but has anyone else noticed the number of copy errors in the "Beadle" CE?
These are the ones I have found: “Beadle” CE Errors: P. 40 – “…survived the flames flames to which they were…” P. 46 – “…author of the infamous Toadstood Tales…” P. 78 – “Headmaster Prmando Dippet…” P.P. 89/91 – “…a maiden answering his every every wish arrived…” P. 100 – “…rewrote it for The Toadstood Tales.” P. 134 – “…Bertrand de Pénsees-Profondes…” (accent aigu should be placed: Pensées) P. 156 – “Tnd so Death took the second brother…” I must say, I was surprised at the number, and a bit disappointed. Then again, I've never tried to count errors in the editions of any of the other Potter books (I just know that I've sometimes been struck by them). Did anyone else find any further errors? Am I being unreasonable being disappointed? -------------------- "It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." ~ Albus Dumbledore (J.K. Rowling)

The Collector's Edition is published by Amazon and the other books including the Standard Edition of Beedle the Bard is published by Scholastic. I think that makes the difference. If you listen to the live Beedle the Bard PotterCast, Hot Cheryl talks about the books.

Just out of curiousity, how many pages does the Collector's Edition have?

Personally, the errors in the collector's edition make it even more special. I doubt Amazon publishing another run of the collector's edition, but they might change the errors. So I'm not bothered by the errors - can't stop drooling over it

Agreed Jane. It makes it even more beautiful. I often find myself looking at it and just admiring it for hours. So the errors don't really bother me.

Personally, the errors in the collector's edition make it even more special. I feel rather the same. It's like the priori incantatem error in GoF, those original editions are that bit more special and unique. Being honest these errors won't have great effect on my reading as, despite believing that books are supposed to be read, I got the standard editions for general purpose and the collector's edition purely for aesthetic reasons (like JaneMarple9 I'm just drooling This post has been edited by Azkaban's_Angel: Dec 12 2008, 06:55 PM -------------------- |

I am surprised that the book has the errors. It seems odd that they didn't spend a bit more time editing it and getting rid of those little buggies. I'm not bothered by it, it's just surprising. Like you, I can't read it. It's too pretty to open or to take a chance on getting the pages dirty. I bought a case for it yesterday. It's too pretty not to be in a case. -------------------- |

I, too, was surprised by the errors. I've worked in book publishing before, and they obviously rushed this to press without proofing it well. I think the pressrun was limited to 100,000 copies with all of the proceeds going to Jo's charity. If they reprint it and correct the errors, then these first print mistakes will make the copies all the more valuable. It's already a treasure in my mind, with or without the typos!
