The Book Behind the Scenes - Junior Essay

By Anything77

Abstract and Biography
All my life friends have come and gone, but Harry has always been there, the ultimate companion, more comforting and warm and familiar than anything else. I have said many times that Harry Potter is like my oldest friend, and I know many people have tried to explain this exact feeling, so I am going to try a different tactic. I am going to tell you my story, the story of a nine year old girl(now 12) and how a simple book gave her hope and helped her believe in the extraordinary…

Author's Note:
Thank you so much to all my friends who have helped me through the years, you’ve done more for me than you can possibly know. I love you all to death.

Anything77, I was very moved while reading your words.

Although I am 54 years of age, inside of me still lives the little girl I once was on the outside.

Harry Potter has helped me through difficult times too. I was given OotP as a gift when I was first struck by a sudden chronic illness that eventually took away much of what my life used to be. I live today with very little of everything except hope, courage and the absolute belief that light can shine through even in the darkest times... Whenever I feel sorry for myself, I open one of my Harry Potter books. I have read them over and over again and I am so very grateful for the gifts that Ms Rowling has given us all! Sure, there is a lot of literary wisdom out there, but nothing can lift your spirits like reading Harry Potter; why that is exactly, I can't explain. Only those of us who have experienced it can truly understand.

I wish you the best, you are already a wonderful writer. clap2.gif

This is truly a remarkable person that wrote this essay!
With such a start on your life, Anything77, it will be possible for you to get a life where you know you can have some saying at what your life will be to you - not what you'll be or what you'll become. That it's how you react to it all, that will make you able to be happy!
You will meet tons of people, that has had HP come into their lifes and let what they wrote change how they saw things just like you and I did and it will amaze you how words can redefine the past and make way for changes that will make the future less painful! I hope you will find your life inspiring and that you will prosper in all three fields you have set your eyes on! (Why settle? wink.gif )

hi. i am only two years older than the author of this essay, but i feel almost excactly the same way. i got into harry potter a little bit ssoner, but it was through the movies. when the second movie came out, i realized there was a series of books, and i got my hands on them. i was reading order of phoenix in third grade as well, when most of my peers were reading captain underpants or judy blume books.

i can't even describe my connection with these books sufficiently enough. but i aspire to be an author as well, so i'll do my best.

my love for these books goes beyond quoting them, and dressing up like them, or writing songs and the such. harry is my best friend as well. and him and the rest of the harry potter charcacters have shaped me as a person. i aspire to be brave and be such a great great person harry is. i aspire to be like hermione, to know eeverything i can, and be hungry to learn more. and i aspire to be as funny and as loyal, and as good a chess player as ron biggrin.gif

the morals and thought expressed in these books have shaped my thoughts and morals. they have taught me what a good person does in the face of adversity, and how valuable friendships are. they have inspired me to draw, write, make things and use my brain in every day situations. i actually feel sorry for the people who haven't eyt discovered thesebooks, or who don't understand how unbelievably sepcial they are. they deserve so much praise and dignity, because they are just-unfathomably amazing. thats all i have to say.

( and you're twelve? EXCELLENT essay! you have GREAT writing talent and tons of promise biggrin.gif from one author to another, good luck in the future! lets be like j.k. rowling in the essence of how talented she is, and how she can bring this incredible world and characters and stories to those who want to read them!!!)

Anything 77

You know something? I felt for you because just like you I have been moved around several times in my life too. I never have left the USA, but have lived in several states. In 6th grade for me back 30 years ago I had one fellow student, a female belittle me every day for the whole year, and your comments reached out to me and have made a big difference to this Harry Potter fan.

I am now 41 (I will be 42 later this summer), but you have given me hope to carry on and for this I applaud you! smile.gif Yes, Harry (in fiction) had trouble his 5th year with Umbridge ( a mean, nasty, vile, censor.gif toad) sad.gif and I remember when I first read this book in June of 2003, I sympathized with Harry and wished nothing but the best for him. Thanks so much for helping me see the light that if Harry can stand up to someone like Umbridge, then I too can stand up for myself and not be belittled anymore.

Very Sincerely yours,

Hippogriff Lover,

P.S. Good luck with the rest of your life, I hope its happy for you. smile.gif And I also think that you will be able to write very well in the future.

Hiiii!! I'm Maria, I read your essay, and let me tell you I liked it very much. This is a very good example of how to take advantage of the opportunities that come to our lives and to learn from them.
Now I'm passing through a very hard situation in my life that can't be sorted out till next month. I read your essay a few weeks ago, before this thing happened, and i've been reading all the books to try to think less about this and I would like to thank you because it's been working out and I feel better. Thank you very much.
