I think a contest where you have to make a movie clip, or trailer would be great!
An idea that I have is a contest where you have to write about what happens to a character after book 7. EX: Who does Dean marry? What does he do? What about George? Parvati? JKR doesn't tell us everything, some of it is up to our imaginations. As an April Fools Day themed contest maybe entrants could design Zonko's or Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes joke products. You could possibly give category options as to what medium they use to express themselves, like a written desciption or a drawing, but basically the idea is to create a product the Weasley Twins would be proud of!
PS: I really love all the suggestions so far, especially 'paint it black's currency idea This post has been edited by Azkaban's_Angel: Mar 31 2009, 04:35 PM -------------------- |

Maybe a similar contest to the 'Sorting Hat song' but this time you get people to write a song for either the Weird Sisters or Celestina Warbeck.

It could be cool if the contest has something to do with the Half-Blood Prince for the June or July contest for the anticipationa and releace of the movie.

In memory of Tom Riddle's diary, we could have a contest were we write a diary entry for a character. We could pick an event, such as the Battle of Hogwarts, or the first day at Hogwarts, and everyone would have to write a diary entry no more than 200 words from a character's perspective other than Harry. (because the books are from his perspective).
I think it will be interesting to see how charcters think. SiriusBSirius -------------------- SiriusBSirius The Ultimate Pride and Prejudice (1995) and Harry Potter FAN! Thanks to baulid, JeffHpFan, and blue4t for the amazing avatar images! ![]() |

I think it would be cool to have a kind of want designer/maker contest. Come up with a unique idea for a wand. I don't mean looking up wand cores Ollivander used, I mean come up with your own type of wood to use and your own type of core. Use some creativity to pick a core and wood, and use logic to give reasons why that wand would be good for a certain type of magic. Like say that a wand made with wood from a fire cherry tree would be good for casting fire. And a core of hippogriff hair would be good for transfiguration spells because a hipporgiff is half one animal, half another.

I would love to see a Chocolate Frog Contest for either Luna or Mcgonnagall.
They are both such interesting characters and both have a lot of options to develop a future that they could be published for. Think about it... -------------------- "Oh, of course," said Ron, clapping a hand to his forehead. "I forgot we'll be hunting down Voldemort in a mobile library."

Here is my idea for a contest:
Year 6 Curriculum You can have a contest where a person has to create a curriculum/syllabus of a specific Year 6 class. For example, one would write a detailed description of the curriculum of a year (Year 6, specifically, in excitement of the release of HBP!) of... let's say, Double Potions or Double/N.E.W.T. Level Transfiguration or any other Year 6 subject. It would contain of what kind of stuff will be taught (real of made up; for example, Draught of Living Dead), along with a short description of it. So, a short example... YEAR 6 DOUBLE POTIONS Professor Slughorn - September 3 -- Draught of Living Dead Students are to create the Draught of Living Dead using Page 10 in their copies of Advanced Potion Making. The witch or wizard with the best end product will be awarded with a bottle of Felix Felicis. About 5-10 of those would be good. And of course, much of the stuff will be made up, but that's what makes the contest fun! -Phoenix Tears |

I don't know if anyone here has ever visited the fantastic http://www.paintmyalbum.net, the basic idea is that people recreate album covers using only MS Paint. I thought it be really cool to see people do the same with the HP book covers, I think it would be great fun and a chance to do something creative where everyone is on a level playing field with regards to the tools they have availiable to them.
