The word mockingjay has been an integral part of a few interesting dreams since I read these books. I just read The Hunger Games aloud to my hubby--we finished last night. Dang if I didn't have dreams again!
QUOTE(OwleryResident @ Nov 15 2009, 08:50 PM) QUOTE(Seven of Nine @ Oct 25 2009, 08:07 PM) Some of my questions, too! The president smelling like blood is just plain creepy--ups the creep factor that's already there. I wonder how many presidents there have been over the last 75 years. Creepy certainly describes Snow. I don't believe there have been many presidents before him; I'm thinking maybe 1 or 2. President Snow was president at the last Quarter Quell, so we know he has ruled over Panem for at least 25 years. Exactly how long he has been president is just one of many questions I have about this character. I find Collins's choice of the name Snow interesting. I tend to think of snow as pure, which this guy who smells like blood certainly isn't. But snow is also cold and can be deadly which fits him spot on. Collins's interesting character names were something I enjoyed in both books. Some of the names make me wonder about the significance (or lack there of) in her choices. Hmmm . . . I hadn't thought about the name significance. I'll have to look closer.

I want to do it right this time" -- Rand
