What better way to celebrate Robert Pattinson's birthday than with a new thread?
  Most of us first knew Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory in Goblet of Fire, the good-hearted but doomed Hufflepuff competitor in the Triwizard Cup. He fulfilled his role admirably and played dead very well as Harry and Mr. Diggory sobbed over his body. Now Robert has taken on a new role, that of Edward in the movie version of Stephenie Meyer's book Twilight. Here Robert gets to play undead as a 100 year-old vampire.  Robert must be feeling the heat as hordes of fans get hyped up and ready to adore him. Suddenly he has the kind of fan attention Dan has been getting for years!  This role does look quite a bit more intense than the role of Cedric, judging from the new Twilight Trailer. What do you think? Can Robert carry off the role of Edward Cullen? Or will he always simply be Cedric Diggory? Tell us what you think!

I really dislike Robert as Edward!!! I think that he made a great Cedric but that is the problem for me! He is my Cedric and I don't want him to be Edward! I like Cedric and I extremely dislike Edward! So I guess it is more the characters that I like and dislike. Maybe he will be a good Edward for others but he is not my Edward! I think it is something totally different from HP but whenever I see him now Twilight and HP get mixed into one! So I guess it isn't him being in it I dislike it is the fact that Twilight and HP are too different to compare and with him in both of them is just weird! Especially because now when I think of Cedric I think of Robert so I don't want to think of Robert as Edward and then Cedric as Edward!! Too weird! Cedric is the complete opposite of Edward so I don't like that the same person is playing them!
Edit--to all of you non Twilight readers: I have read the book and that is why I don't like him as Edward, I want to keep my HP and Twilight seperate but if you haven't read the book I recommend you see the movie. I think he is an amazing actor and will do a great job as Edward, he is just not my Edward. I really hope that this made sense!

I totally see him as Edward. I have done since I recently read the books and found out they were making a movie adapted from the first one.
The fact is, he's an actor - he can't remain 'the guy who played Cedric' forever. And I doubt he'd want to. I say good luck to him, and I have complete faith in him pulling this role off. Thanks for those piccies, thats brightened my evening!  *hyperventilates*

OMG! What? No, he's the PERFECT Edward! Are you kidding me?! I picture him as the character every time I read the books. I think this cast (Twilight) is one of the best, very accurate to the characters.
 Back to Rob: He's gorgeous and a great actor. I'm falling in love with him every day. I mean, come on:    *sigh*  BTW, happy Birthday Rob!

I love him as Edward! I think it is the trademark of a good actor: when they can transition from one character to another. He'll do great!

He'll pull of Edward wonderfully. To me, he IS Edward. I never liked Cedric, so I didn't really notice him as Cedric? If that makes sense. I didn't care about him in the HP movies. Robert looks like a god as Edward. He looks absolutely amazing and breathtaking as Edward, and that's exactly how it should be. I'm totally excited to see him in Twilight.

I havent read the books & I dont know anything about Twilight or Edward but, looking at the pics in this thread of Rob as a vampire, to me he looks totally different from Cedric. Cedric has this permanent look of jollyness about him, like you know he's not a bad guy really even when he's with friends taunting Harry, or competing in the TWT, he just looks like Cedric. But as Edward (who I have no idea what kind of guy he is) he just looks so different even in these still pics. He looks much more intense & sinister. And, for a hundred year old guy, he looks pretty good, too

I haven't read the books too but I really want to read them and I read on some web site short plot and I think that these books are great, not as Harry's but similar. And after I saw the trailer about Edward or about Twilight, however you want, I just can't wait to see the movie or read the books. I hope that I will get those books soon. I don't know what kind od person is Edward but I think that Robert would be awesome in his role.

Um, I was gonna say something but then I FORGOT TO BREATHE!
I wasn't too sure about this casting at first, being a rabid Twilight fan, but after viewing the trailer a million or so times I have come to the conclusion that he is Edward Cullen.
