LoL Go ahead and just submit your entry underneath which category you think it should fit underneath and also include that detailed list. If we (the judges) think it should be underneath a different category, we'll just go ahead and change it. It won't affect your entry at all.

Okay. I can see this "which category does my costume fit underneath?" is going to be occurring all month long. So, including the above answers and definitions in the rules, simply take a stab at which category YOU think your costume fits underneath.

That means everyone must give, as Thanfiction did, a DETAILED list of all the items in your costume and whether you a) purchased them, b) altered them, or c) made them. That will be your justification on why you think your costume should fit underneath the category you entered it in. If, when judging, the Crafty Witches and Contest Team think your costume actually falls underneath a different category, we'll just switch the category and your entry won't be penalized or anything like that.

Does that help alleviate some agony for everyone?

I want to enter the costume contest, but I'm not sure which category to enter into. I am going as a Yule Ball attendee, and I have sewn a dress from scratch, but I've also got a few other bits and pieces, like jewellery and a shawl. I didn't make the shawl, we've had it for years, but it is bought. Does this mean I cannot enter the "Home made" section?

I have a suggestion for the contests At other sites where we'd have contests the administrator would create a special entry topic in the forums and we'd post our entries there. We could use the normal posting for text entries and link any photo entries and such, and when the submission time was over the admins would simply lock that thread. The current method of the judges being the only ones to see all the entries works fine here, but it was always so much fun to be able to view others' entries for the duration of the contest. Yes, while it does allow people to see other entries and adjust theirs so they don't enter something similar, it also would promote a sort of community. We were always commenting and encouraging each other about our entries and it made things a bit more fun
