QUOTE(Gryffondr_Gal @ Jun 30 2007, 06:21 PM) Yesterday i went and bought my material for my Gryffondor robe WOOHOOOOOoooo. i also bought iron on transfer paper to put my emblem on it Gryffondr_Gal, I'm looking forward to seeing your robes. Is your mil following a specific pattern? I'm curious if you bought the iron on paper for black fabric. I haven't tried it before but have heard good things about it. On Friday, always_a_sidekick and I dressed up for a photoshoot a local paper was having. He and I just happen to live in the same town. My son went as Colin Creevy. images are clickable Colin Creevy ![]() Moody & Tonks ![]() Tonks' jeans - reconstructed using bits of old t-shirts, an old quilt square and loads of HP buttons. For the movie premier of OotP, I'm dressing up as Molly and my daughter will be either Ginny Weasley or Luna. She just bought an amazing hat that's a bobcat but looks like a lion that will be perfect if she goes as Luna. I'm pretty sure my son plans to be Colin again. I'll be Tonks again for the DH book release. This post has been edited by ofenjen: Jul 1 2007, 10:37 AM -------------------- sewhooked, the home of Harry Potter Paper Piecing by Jennifer Ofenstein

My duaghters are going as Tonks and Luna(last minute change in plans) I made radish earrings for luna out of red pom-poms and lime green embroidery thread. Used yellowed construction paper with glittered lettering for the quibbler and various sized corks for her necklace(which took awhile, and had to use an srong leather needle) Have the clothes and hair dye for Tonks but would welcome any suggestions for props or jewerly for her. My hubby will be Snape, but, this tear added a red sequin heart to his sleeve and I heart Lily to his robes.

Your costumes really sound awesome! Be sure to email us pictures if you take some! As for jewelry Tonks would wear, I truly don't have any idea. To me, Tonks isn't described as wearing jewelry (not in the books anyway). I believe it wouldn't be wise for her, considering how clumsy she is... She would tear her earlobe or something if she was wearing earrings. I think however you need to have a wand, and if you have her wearing jeans or pants of some kind, put the wand in the back pocket (for the "losing a buttock" thing). Other than that a Weird Sisters t-shirt, and maybe a pair of patched jeans.

I've seen several great ideas for her. I personally wear a necklace with bats on it that fits like a choker, but I don't wear earrings when I'm dressed as her. An Auror badge is always fun. I have a button maker so I covered my patched jeans with buttons. I have a Hufflepuff crest, one that says Stop Voldemort! and a I heart Werewolves button. I think of her as being a little bit punk, so I tried to go with that. All my patches were of bits of t-shirts, some machine stitched and some hand sewn. I even did a wand pocket on the side of my jeans. It was a big hit the last time I wore my costume. It worked quite well for keeping my wand out of the way. -------------------- sewhooked, the home of Harry Potter Paper Piecing by Jennifer Ofenstein

Thanks for the jeans idea and I never thought of an Auror badge. Will try to upload pictures once we get the costumes complete. For my husbands Snape costume, was thinking of adding prison stripes to his robe, of course that may look a bit corny. I think a choker style necklace is great, nothing but plastic bats at the moment. Wonder if a silver scarab beetle necklace could work? Thanks again ,I'm off to work on costumes.

I'm ALMOST done with my Luna costume. All that needs finishing are my skirt and robe (that my awesome seamstress mother is making), and my radish earrings (that are currently kicking my butt). After this, I don't think I'll ever use seed beads again. D:
For those of you who are going as Tonks, my friend (who is also dressing as her) had a cute idea of wearing several band-aids. It'd be a fun way of playing on her clumsiness. :] -------------------- ![]() "The thing about growing up with Fred and George," said Ginny thoughtfully, "is that you sort of start thinking anything's possible if you've got enough nerve." |

For Luna, if you have the time and energy, I highly suggest you do something like this. This is a friend of mine, Ann Laurel, at Lumos, obviously dressed as Luna. From what she told me, they bought a huge lion plush toy, opened it up, then glued/stappled/did-whatever-they-could-to-make-it-hold it to a hat. They also had to add strap to the hat, as it's of course very heavy on the head. In this case, the lion roars and his eyes light up when you press a paw. She was a total hit at Lumos.
You all make sure to send us pictures when you're done! As for goblins telgenhof I looked at the galleries and found this picture and this one, as well as this one. Looking at those, I would say they wear some sort of tuxedo, and you'd also need a very pointy nose and bat-like ears. I don't know how you could do that except with prostetics. -------------------- |
