The problems you all seemed to have had above may be due to some tekkie stuff going on with the Lounge. From what I understand, there's a the server and database just like playing hide and seek lately... I'll go up there and merge your post hydrangea.
But first... WOW! You did a great job on those! Little Tonks has the perfect hair, and I really love the "I love Remus" on the shirt. Plus it looks like you used her real clothes, so it'll be effective, yet it won't break your wallet. And little Luna, well she's just so cute! That hat looks fab! And those little earrings! And I also love the Quibbler headline! Well done on all of those! I went to the fabric shop today and couldn't find anything for my own Molly robe. Well... I did find a pattern I believe will work great, but as for the fabric, no luck. All I found was a sort of corduroy that was green with salmon flowers, but that looked horrible with the ribbon you have to sew around to make the pink trim. Too bad too, because it was only CAN$3/meter (which means a little over a yard). I did find a pink that matched PERFECTLY with the Molly Sweater Mary made me though. I'll try to go to another place tomorrow, and hopefully find something that fits. If not, I spotted another fabric that was black and had pink flowers. I suppose it'll have to do, if I can't find nothing else Edited because I had forgotten about Molly!! And as I mentionned to Jen in her LJ, I think her Molly looks fab as well! Thanks, little Tonks did not want to go with jeans, so she choose the outfit herself. I agree Molly looks great! Found some tapestry fabric on the ends table and turned it into a sling bag for Trelawney, the fabric dos'nt match OOP pictures of her bag, but the style is what I was aiming for.Good luck on finding that fabric. Thanks again for merging my posts, felt my computer was cursed or something

I found a much closer fabric than then one I ended up buying. It was $9.99/yd...and I needed four yds., soooooo, NO. I thought the one I chose evoked Molly, which is all I really wanted. It's 100% cotton quilting calico. Several much older ladies at the cutting table told me it was lovely fabric and all nodded appreciatively when I said I was turning it into a housecoat. Gryffondr_Gal, that is one smart looking robe your MIL made. I really like the red lining, it gives an extra special look, your sure to be a hit on July 21st. If your looking for an easy tie solution, add the house color with wide ribbon and No Sew Heat Bond( you will need an iron) "little luna" did not want the tie to go around her neck so I used a clip on tie and the method above.

QUOTE I wanted to share some pictures of my kids dressed as Luna and Colin for the OotP midnight release at IMAX last night. We had a great time! Those costumes are so cute and the ties look fantastic- did you make them? I love Luna's hat- where on earth did you find it. Colin is just perfect with his camera. Have to see the movie next week, my little luna is sick. Had another idea for Trelawney ( her costume is so drab for OOP) instead of the handbag I am finishing it off to look like a little tea pot in which there are leaves( construction paper) with fortunes written on them " Beware of a dark young man" "You will suffer, but, will be happy about it". For the sherry bottles use masking tape and shoe polish ( fake leather craft) and write cooking sherry in bold black letters- tie a string around top and tie at the waist like a belt. -------------------- Mrs. Figg raised the arm from which her string bag dangled and whacked Mundungus around the face and neck with it; judging by the clanking noise it made it was full of cat food. I painted their ties with fabric paint. I used Lumiere brand on the Ravenclaw tie and it worked much better. I taped the tie down to a long piece of cardboard first. I'm really happy with the way they turned out. My daughter actually found the hat when she was at camp. It's a bobcat, but is so close to looking like a lion, she couldn't resist it. It was the school mascot of the college where the camp took place. I love your idea of a tea pot with fortunes in it! I saw pictures online today of someone that had done a tea cup with a picture of the grim in the bottom with glued on tea leaves. Very cute. The sherry bottle idea is fabulous! I hope your Luna is feeling better soon. -------------------- sewhooked, the home of Harry Potter Paper Piecing by Jennifer Ofenstein

The tea cup idea sounds great, only running out of hands for all of the props-I will look more like a bag lady than Trelawney.Hope more people send in pictures, the costumes are great. -------------------- Mrs. Figg raised the arm from which her string bag dangled and whacked Mundungus around the face and neck with it; judging by the clanking noise it made it was full of cat food. I'm planning on making a Remus outfit for myself for the book release--since it's very hard to pull off a good, costume contest-winning Sirius with the feminine features I have--especially when makeup-made eyebags end up making me look more like a girl than someone recently released from Azkaban.
http://img32.picoodle.com/img/img32/9/7/13...22m_15441f5.jpg My outfit's all Hottopic goods, pretty much--though the tattered prison-stripe shirt is from a stock costume from a local store. I'm looking more for authenticity for my Remus--it'll be Hogwarts-age, so I believe I'm just getting an Alivan's sweater and some normal slacks and making a Prefect badge out of sculpy--plus, going all out for the scars, obviously. But I'm not sure what to do about my hair. Tying it back gives it a short effect with bangs, kind of like some interpretations of school!age Remus, but a cut would make it more like Order!Picture Remus. I'm also troubled over 'embellishments'--I adore accessories, and I have a few metal cups I plan on taking for any sort of drinks (like Wolfsbane, of course =P). I don't ship Remus/Tonks, but, yeah. Do you think I could pull off a decent Remus, or should I just stick to my Hobo!Sirius I've been rocking to most releases? |
