Welcome, welcome, to another year at Hogwarts! This month's craft-along will have us all sporting brand new scarves to wear to school. Starting September 1st, join your friendly neighborhood Crafty Witches in knitting or crocheting our very own Hogwarts House Scarves, or else another scarf as inspired by one of our famous school chums.

Feel free to pop into the Questions and Techniques Discussion thread for help as you go along, and be sure to post your triumphant finished scarf pics in the Finished Projects thread.

Thanks and happy crafting,
Rosemary / Quietish
on behalf of the Leaky Crafty Witches and Wizard

I'll need to crochet a Luna scarf and cardigan for Halloween! It's a shame I don't know how to knit...that Ravenclaw illusion scarf looks awesome!

Sweet, I haven't been able to do much around Leaky lately, just too busy with a new job, teaching elementary full-time again after four years teaching college English. But I need a simple knitting project to keep my hands busy, so I thought I might make another scarf - nothing's simpler than a tube of stockinette knitting on circular needles, and it gives me something to do with my hands on the school bus or in meetings. Our school has houses (I squeed when I got assigned a house, how cool is that?!) though it's not a boarding school or anything like that - and kids can only earn house points, not lose them. Anyway, my house color is yellow (the others are red, blue, and green - funny how those four colors are the ones to pick, orange or purple would just seem odd, wouldn't they?), so I thought I'd make something like a Hufflepuff scarf, so the black parts would match it with my black winter coat.... I'd like to work in touches of the other colors, too, we'll see. I need a scarf to match my brown coat, too, but maybe that can wait another winter. Now I just gotta find the yarn market in my new city!!

Your school sounds awesome, MissJubilee! You're right- Nothing is more easy than just knitting in a tube. Scarves are such great mindless knitting; When you get good at it, you hardly have to even look down!
