What is a Craft-Along?
A Craft-Along occurs when a group of people (in this case, online) craft a project at the same time. The benefit of working on something that other crafters are also working on is that the group can provide support to each other, help each out when things aren't going perfectly, brainstorm ideas, and celebrate each other's successes. At the end each person has a handmade item and quite possibly, new friendships!

The projects that we are using are found on the Leaky Crafts section of the main site, as well as the Harry Potter Crafts forum here at the Leaky Lounge. All tutorials on The Leaky Cauldron are original works submitted by Harry Potter fans who are also often members of Leaky.

Who can participate?
Any member of the Leaky Lounge can participate in Leaky Crafts' Craft-Alongs. This means even the "non-crafty" members who are interested in becoming crafty, because having help from Crafty Witches and the rest of the group is the perfect place to learn a new hobby! All that is required is a few materials, and a positive attitude! Always remember to follow The Rules of the Leaky Lounge when posting within the Craft-Along threads, please.

How do I participate?
Start by checking out what the current Craft-Along project is, which can be found on the Craft-Alongs main page and will also be pinned at the top of the Contests & Craft-Alongs forum. There you will find links to the tutorial(s) we are using and a supply list. Then, get crafting. Join the discussion in the Technique Help, Progress, or Finished Objects threads. Get advice and offer advice. Pat people on the back (er, virtually that is) and be patted on the back. Squee a lot. It's that simple.

When do we start?
The next Craft-Along will start January 1st. Check back then and we'll have a month-long craft party!

"I have some questions."
Post them here and we'll keep adding answers to this FAQ.

Please note that the patterns and tutorials you find here have been designed by Harry Potter fans all over the Internet. The authors alone hold the copyrights and licenses to these patterns and tutorials, which means you CANNOT use their patterns to make something that you will sell to others afterward. You can use them to make things for yourself. You can make some for your friends and ask them to pay for supplies. You CANNOT, however, ask them to pay you to do it as though you had created this pattern by yourself, or try to sell you crafts to a local store.

Think about it. Would you take a Prisoner of Azkaban book, photocopy it, put your name in big red letters on the front cover and try to sell it in your local library? The answer is, obviously, no. Well, selling crafts you have made but not designed would be just as bad!

Please note that posting a picture of a finished object on Leaky Lounge will be taken as permission for the photo to be included in the Harry Potter Crafts gallery. If you do NOT wish your photos to be included in this gallery, please PM a Crafty Witch at the time of posting.

Also note that the tutorials, recipes and patterns found here have not been tested and that The Leaky Cauldron's Harry Potter Crafts section is not responsible for any mistakes they may contain. If you do find something wrong in one of them, however, please e-mail us to let us know.

On that note, Harry crafting to all!
