The beginning of a new year typically brings with it a will to improve our life and change things that you don't like. For a lot of us, crafts are no exceptions.

So we challenge you to make a crafty resolution in 2011... and keep it! And to make sure you do, well we'll keep this craft-along going throughout the year and award incrementing MyLeaky points to reward your efforts! All you have to do is let us know at least once a month about the progress you've made! Our goal is for you to succeed in what you've resolved to accomplish in 2011.

What are the crafty resolutions you can take in 2011? Well there are many options:
- You can, like Crafty Witch Jenn, decide to reread the whole HP series and find new crafty inspiration there.
- You can decide to try mastering a new craft this year. If you'd like to give quilting a try, for example, you can join former Crafty Witch Jennifer's Project of Doom, which will get you a fully completed quilt at the end of approximately 30 weeks. You can also have a look at all the patterns and tutorials on Leaky Crafts, pick something you like and challenge yourself to making it.
- You can, if you're rather masochistic like me, resolve to not buy any crafts supplies for at least 6 months and complete your works in progress (WIPs) rather than start new projects…. Or you can just work on the last part and forget about the No-Buy stupidity I signed up for!
- Make crafts to be all set and ready for LeakyCon
- Etc.
- Etc.
- Etc.

Most motivational experts agree that if you want your goals to actually work and happen, you can drink this Motivation Concoction.

Remember that we're awarding incrementing MyLeaky points to everyone participating in the CAL:
- 1 MyLeaky point for signing up for a craft-along
- 1 MyLeaky point for keeping your resolution throughout the month of January
- 3 MyLeaky points per month for keeping your resolution throughout the months of February and March
- 5 MyLeaky points per month for keeping your resolution throughout the months of April and May
- 10 MyLeaky points per month for keeping your resolution throughout the months of June and July
- 25 MyLeaky points per month for keeping your resolution throughout the months of August and September
- 50 MyLeaky points per month for keeping your resolution throughout the months of October and November
- 100 MyLeaky points for keeping your resolution throughout the months of December
- 100 MyLeaky points for achieving your 2011 resolution (whenever that is during the year)

That's a lot of points people, so if you'll just sign the jinxed parchment below, we'll get started!

We know that many of you don't visit the Leaky Lounge daily, preferring to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Livejournal or the Harry Potter Crafts Yahoo group. So rather than asking you to come to us, we're coming to you where you normally follow us.

So, would you prefer to sign up for this Craft-Along on Livejournal insead? Share your newly finished WIPs by posting them in an album over at the Harry Potter Crafts Yahoo group? Ask your questions on Twitter? Well, you can just do so. We'll keep an eye on everything and share what you've made back in the Leaky Lounge threads for you. And if you add your MyLeaky username in your posts or picture descriptions, you'll still earn MyLeaky points! So get going!

Hi BibbetR and welcome.gif to the Lounge and our little crafty corner! I'm really glad you're joining us!

I made a mistake brewing the Motivation Concoction above, so I decided to restart from scratch. There should be a new (functional) bottle awaiting you and everyone else in the first post of this thread!

Oh my gosh I have so many WIPs headache.gif Last year I started a bazillion projects and, I dont think that I finished any blush.gif Well maybe two or three. But, this year I really want to get on with at least completing things that are intended as gifts (for waaay past birthdays).
But, before I sign any agreements using that spooky looking quill that I've just been handed, I'm hoping to relearn how to knit. It was all planned for last year, I was going to go to knitting classes but, at the last minute it didnt work out. So, I'm really hoping to go to a class or join a crafty group to get some help remembering how to knit so as I might finally get myself a Hufflepuff scarf.

Glad you'll be joining us Moose! It's really too bad Apparition won't work for Muggles though, as I could send you my grandma! She's the one who taught me how to knit and my very first project was a Ravenclaw scarf (my second being a Ravenclaw vest! tongue.gif)

Good luck with that, I'm sure you'll succeed!!

This sounds like an awesome idea! I have a lot of things I'd like to finish, and many ideas I'd like to get started on.
Are we supposed to write our resolutions here? smile.gif

good one josee!!! i never make new years resolutions but i think one might be in order here. i really could use a poke in the back this year to up my HP crafting cause ive really let it slide and i feel like my friendships in this community have suffered. so...

I resolve that year 2011 will be the year of completing one HP themed craft a month. im gonna leave it wide open besides that cause i have a few MAJOR WIP's already going but by the end of this year i will have 12 harry potter projects to show off, and ill be sure to share them as i go. feel free to nag me hahaha.

i need a catchy name for this though cause i work better when things have a catchy name....12 Months at Hogwarts? or "12MAH" for short? hahaha. maybe....or Monthly Hogwarts Homework Project..MHHP *snort* i want something to indicate that it will be once a moth and is HP themed without limiting it to that character or any particular house. thoughts?

and how come i never have a profile pic over here? i have on e on my page. thoughts?

welcome.gif Pren! As for the name, how about "Hermione's Month Homework Reminder", or something along those lines? As soon as I saw where you were heading I pictured those nagging homework planners she gave Harry & Ron! lol.gif

You probably uploaded a "personal picture" and not an avatar. For instructions on how to add an avatar under your username here on the lounge you can check out our FAQ section. Here is a link to the answer you seek!

Glad to see you around the Lounge, dear, and I can't wait to see your new crafts.
Jenn

Hermione's Monthly Crafty Visit to the Library?

Giving it a name like that is a great idea! I must say I'm creative when it comes to crafts, but I'm rather very bad at coming up with names, as you can see! lolabove.gif
