I'm hoping they don't alter the plot of the book too much, because then they'll ruin the film entirely. And surely they know that if they change it too much, fans will be mighty disappointed?
I don't know whether to feel relieved or annoyed that the script wasn't revealed. -------------------- don't let this magic die; the answer's there, oh, just look in her eyes; <3 |

You know what? I don't trust The Sun. Even if such a script really was found and really is genuine (I'd prefer to hear it from Warner Bros. myself) I wouldn't necessarily believe whatever they say about it. Though it's good that they haven't said much. Yet. The Sun is better than The Daily Star, but it still isn't exactly the most reliable of sources for news.
And come on, take this bit: QUOTE The Sun reader who found the script said..."I'm glad I've helped to stop any surprises being leaked." That's why he handed it to The Sun??? *dons modly hat*
Just a caution that if information about the forthcoming movie is leaked/stolen/released/whatever, we cannot discuss it here until it is announced on the main Leaky Cauldron news page. *removes modly hat* I hope it's not true, and it's great (imho) that the article really doesn't tell us anything anyway. That's as it should be. Let us experience for ourselves first hand in the theaters. |

I think it's a bit presumptuous to say that the movie is officially ruined. What HP movie hasn't deviated significantly from the book? It's certainly disappointing to hear, but they've managed to deviate from the book in the past without 'ruining' the movies.
I do wish the movies had stuck more closely to the dialogue and scenes in the books, but it's foolish to think that WB would decide during the final movie(s) to suddenly treat the source material with the respect it deserves. |

You know what? I don't trust The Sun. No kidding. Can-Am readers, for Sun think National Enquirer, and I think you get the picture. QUOTE but they've managed to deviate from the book in the past without 'ruining' the movies. Uh, Harrisson- the Burrow? And in the following scenes, no mention of it- like it never happened. Looks kind of tacked on at the end of shooting, doesn't it. That's ruining a movie. |

No offence, but gosh, what a pessimistic view to have.
IMO, that script is none of their business, if they even found it. I agree with Nellythemarrow, don't trust The Sun on this. @BillieMac: Sure, the Burrow scene wasn't in the book, but JK approved it. If the movies were 100% accurate, they would be 4 hours of stuff we know off by heart. It would just be so boring! Even if you aren't fond of the Burrow scene, it didn't ruin the whole movie. It could have been worse. -------------------- Gryffindor!

Changes to HBP ruined that film for me. Easily my least favorite film. I don't think I'll ever watch it again.
-The Burrow scene was garbage. "Oh that was to add action and reveal nowhere was safe." The battle in the tower of Hogwarts could have given us action, and the Burrow is supposed to be safe through the dang wedding. -Bringing in Deatheaters into Hogwarts just to stand around and do nothing made no sense. "Oh we can't have a battle in Hogwarts between a handful of people, it will be too much like the giant battle at Hogwarts 2 films down the road in DH2." Oh that makes sense. Because Helm's Deep really ruined my appreciation for the epic battle at Minas Tirith in LoTR 2 and 3. -Having Harry just stand there unpetrified and watch Dumbledore die??? Everything about Harry up until this point tells us nothing short of death will keep him from saving the ones he loves, but he'll just stand there while Dumbledore is surrounded by Death Eaters and killed?! I could keep going on but that is getting off topic. My point is that I have absolutely no faith in this director, and I expect he will find ways to really hurt the upcoming films with decisions that make no sense at all. Fingers crossed that all 7 books are remade into film within my lifetime. |

I totally agree with you on that list of things wrong with the movie! I liked it but you're right, too many alterations. Let me add one more to that list.
- Ginny. The opening scene with her and Harry hugging and awkwardness being introduced was perfectly fine, appropriate. Everything else after that made her look pushy and frankly was unflattering to the character. By leaving out Harry & Ron finding Ginny & Dean snogging and him realizing through shock that he cares about her, they left out the "omph" of the relationship and it's purpose in the first place. I was basically just frustrated with their whole portrayal of that so whenever I think of Ginny & Harry I have to think of the book because otherwise it just irritates me. |

Mod Note:
Please remember that this thread is to discuss expectations for the DH films. If you would like to discuss how HBP was treated on film we have a thread here for exactly that discussion, that way we can keep the discussions together which makes it easier for people to find the topic they want.
