Over the past few days, and even weeks, we've seen the Democratic Party thrown into turmoil. Some say its over the health care "reform" and some because of their dissatisfaction with the President. President Obama's approval ratings have been plummeting, and overall people aren't confident in Congress as a whole anymore. I think the most surprising number is that right now 60% of Americans think its somewhat likely that our next president will be a Republican.
So, the news broke in the last 24 hours that two democrats are retiring from the senate. Senator Byron Dorgan of North Dakota was first, followed by Connecticut Democratic Senator Christopher Dodd, who is also the chair of the senate Banking Committee. There are also 10 Democratic members of the house who have said they will be retiring and also not seeing re-election. I haven't been able to find the names, but its listed in this article by the Wall Street Journal. Congress isn't the only one losing its democrats, Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle has also announced that he will not run again for office. Is it the Republican's turn to take over? Is anyone next? Do you believe their reasons for leaving, or are they not telling the truth? This post has been edited by Iheartprofessorsnape: Jan 6 2010, 07:54 PM -------------------- |
