Our first Featured FanArtist for 2008 is the multi-talented

dhesia

One of the most amazing things about the Harry Potter FanArt community is its incredible diversity!
In much of Italian FanArtist dhesia's work you can see a definite Japanese Manga-style.
Her unique take on the characters and scenes, plus a rich panoply of Fan-Fiction-driven art
makes for a large and exciting album of amazing images!

Here in the FanArt Gallery

You can find even more of her work at DeviantART: http://dhesia.deviantart.com/

So take a walk on the wild side of HP FanArt! smile.gif You may find yourself with a new favourite artist!

I admit I am not usually a big fan of anime, but dshesia's work seems to be in a class all its own. I love her different perspective when portraying canon scenes.

Her Sectumsempra is fabulous!

Usually there is a fair amount of blood in drawings of this scene. I find the shattered mirror/glass to be a wonderful artistic statement.

This one of Sirius and Harry just speaks to me:

Something about the protective sweep of Sirius in front and the disillusioned look on Harry's face seems to portray their entire relationship. *Gulp*
It really is beautiful. cry.gif

This one on DeviantArt portraying the death of Fred is wonderful.

I think I have found a new favorite! dhesia is fantastic! clap.gif

Recently added to dhesia's massive album is this striking montage of "The Death of Severus" --

The surrealistic aspect of the images is quite unique and somewaht of a departure from her usual manga style. I love how the eye of Nagini just sucks you into the picture! thumbup.gif

I have never seen her gallery before, but the moment I saw her featured and checked her works, I fell in love with them immediately, and she gained a trip to my favorites...
I really love her subtle way of coloring and the vast range of emotions portrayed on her characters' faces..

But most of all I love the way she draws people's eyes.. She makes them look so melancholic, and determined at the same time, it's awesome... Like in this picture:
Ron-Hermione

One of my favorites is Autumn Ron...

Isn't it just brilliant?

I admit that over the past few years, I have begun to lose my fondness for the Manga styles of artwork (though I admit there are a few different 'types' in the style). I have however been able to retain my appreciation for the style. Dhesia's work is quite good, much better than some artwork currently being published in graphic novels.

One of my favourite images that dhesia has produced is this vibrant and intense vision of the Fiendfyre scene in DH --

I absolutely love the look of determination on Harry's face and her interpretation of the fiery animals. smile.gif

This is my absolute favorite image of hers. In fact I recently used it (with credit given of course) for an post about an episode of GalleryCast (/shameless plug). I love, love surrealistic art.

I do love that image of Fiendfyre, such a unique and creative way of portraying that scene. It manages to both illustrate the danger to the characters while altering the look of natural fire to focus more on its magical nature (I wish I had thought of it. biggrin.gif). Fantastic work Dhesia!
