Ever since Harry has know Dumbldore you get the feeling that nothing can come between him. Harry feels secure and safe in Dumbldore's care, and Dumbldore apparently feels safe and secure in Harrys hands.
It is one of the most memorable things that I read. In Chapter 26, when they are leaving the cave, Harry and Dumbledore have this dialogue: "It's going to be alright, sir," Harry said over and over again, more worried by Dumbledore's silence than he had been by his weakened voice. "We're nearly there. . . . I can Apparate us both back . . . . Don't worry. . . ." I am not worried, Harry," said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. "I am with you." Do you think that harrys Love and ability to Sacrifice himself for others and have the compassion that is hardly known in this world, would it help him in His last confrontion with Voldemort? Please state what you think and why... -------------------- Most people come to the decision, that what is the most obvious, it the Truth. But that is not always the case.

I think that the fact that he can love will be important in the final battle because it will give him the motevation to finish LV.
If Harry hadn't loved and cared for the people that LV had killed he wouldn't want him dead so much, it is the fact that LV has killed the people that Harry cared for most that makes him want revenge, and I think it is this need to avenge the death of his parents, of Sirius and of Dumbledore that will give him the strength and power to finsh LV in the end. Or maybe Harry will just give Voldy a big hug and Voldys head will explode or somthing because of all the love. -------------------- You're only young once; you can be immature forever. QUOTE(Mudblood-Hunter @ Aug 31 2006, 09:56 AM) "It's going to be alright, sir," Harry said over and over again, more worried by Dumbledore's silence than he had been by his weakened voice. "We're nearly there. . . . I can Apparate us both back . . . . Don't worry. . . ." I am not worried, Harry," said Dumbledore, his voice a little stronger despite the freezing water. "I am with you." Certainly there is a strong bond but I feel that this was one of the most heartwrenching things Dumbledore could have said to Harry. Especially considering what happened next. Dumbledore, in fact, was NOT safe with Harry. Why did JKR set Harry up like this? Now Harry not only feels remose at DD's death but maybe also a bit of the same guilt he felt when Sirius died. He didn't and couldn't save Dumbledore. This leads me to two conclusions. It is either one more of Dumbledore's miscalculations OR Harry being with Dumbledore was providing a wider protection than we see at first. Who else has Dumbledore trusted regarding his quest for the horcruxes? This is quite a burden for a boy, even one as capable as Harry. Why doesn't DD trust MacGonnigal with this information? I can see why he wouldn't share it with Hagrid. Not because Hagrid is untrustworthy but simply because Hagrid can't keep a secret. The Ministry has proven itself unreliable in the fight against LV so I can see why DD wouldn't tell Fudge or the new Minister. Do the aurors know? Isn't Mad Eye one of his best friends? Lupin, the Weasleys? Do any of these people know? Who does DD trust? Dumbledore, I think, needed Harry to be in the tower when he confronted Draco and the deatheaters. He needed Harry to see Snape kill him. Dumbldore could have knocked Harry out or in some other way prevented him from seeing what was going on. Hopefully we will find out why in a year or so. |

I don't think that DD ismply didn't trust those people, but just that he didn't trust them with the knowledge of the Horcurxes. Destroying the Horcruzes is the key to the destruction of Voldemort, so if LV were to find out that people knew about this Horcruxes and were taking steps to destry them he would proberly up the protection on them and try to eliminate anybody who knew about them. Ithink it is this that made DD keep the information he had about LV to himself, the more the rest of the Order knew about his plans the more danger they would be in
Just like in OotP when the trio and Ginny and the twins wanted to know what was happening in the fight against LV and nobody would tell them. It may also be that DD never entirly trusted Snape, telling the order would mean that Snape would know what DD was doing and therefor LV would know, assuming that Snape really was still a DE, I just don't think that DD would take that risk, no matter how many times he said he trusted Snape -------------------- You're only young once; you can be immature forever. In a way Dumbledore raised Harry. Although DD may have not had Harry in his home he certainly had a hand in the way Harry turned out. Many people did, the Weasleys, Lupin, Sirius, and yes the Durselys. I include them because Harry learned how not to treat people from them. But Dumbledore planned Harry's safety from a long time ago, when he invoked the protection of Lily. When DD explained the prophecy in OotP I really got the impression that DD loved Harry. That tear DD shed spoke volumes. He loves Harry and so I believe he has a blind trust toward him. He couldn't tell the Order because the knowledge of the horcruxes must be contained lest LV find out. We don't want that. I don't think it's a matter of not trusting the the Order as much as it is tight information control. DD is wise.

Yea, well said. The worst possible thing would have been for to many people to know about LVhorcruxes and for LV to find out. -------------------- You're only young once; you can be immature forever. Proud member of M.A.F.I.A.!!! And S.Q.U.E.E. |

I agree with all the above - Dumbledore really loves Harry, probably partly because he was good friends with his parents. You can see how much Dumbledore cares and loves Harry from when he tells him that he fell into the trap of caring too much about him: of trying to protect him instead of doing what he feels is his job and telling him the whole truth.
But along with that is the neccessity for Harry to know about the horcruxes. He is the one who is going to finally beat Voldemort so he needs to be armed with as much info on him as possible. Harry knows whilst others don't because it is neccessary for him to know. To tell others would risk Voldemort finding out Dumbledore knew. Plus, there are hints all the way through the book of Dumbledore's death, it is very likely that Dumbledore thought he wasn't going to last much longer, what with his hand and him getting weaker, and he needed to pass the information down to somebody before he died, and who better to pass it to than to Harry, the closest thing he has to a son and the one destined to kill Voldemort? -------------------- ![]() Thank you to reallycorking for the amazing art in this banner, and to spattergroit for the editing of it! |

When all was said and done, dumbldore must have known that harry had helped him endure the potion. I'm Sure Dumbldore would feel a particular fondness for harry, even more so then before, for helping him complete his task... which incidentally, was not easy for either of them. I got the chills when Dumbldore screamed for harry to kill him.
I think also that during the time he was under the influence of the potion he said things that could be significant. -------------------- Most people come to the decision, that what is the most obvious, it the Truth. But that is not always the case.

Now we're talking. I've posted on this before. I think this is one of the key ways that DD shows his trust for Harry. He is, in a sense, passing the torch to him in HBP. DD knew he was going to die (I believe) and therefore had to pass on the information. I've always kinda thought DD looked at Harry as maybe a much loved grandson. Before JKR said they are not related and shot that theory down. But I still don't think it stopped DD from feeling that way about Harry. After all, what did he care if nameless, faceless people died or got hurt as long as Harry was happy and safe. -------------------- "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU @$*!$" |

But what about all the information that DD didn't get the chance to tell Harry? For example, he kept telling Harry that he was going to tell him the story behind his withered hand, but he never did. It might be because what he was telling Harry about the horcruxes was, in a sense, telling him what happened to DD's hand. Or it could be that he never got the chance to, being so busy.
JKR said, in NYC, that there were a couple pieces of information that would be essential in book seven, that Harry will find out. But who will tell him? How will he find out, when DD, who normally gives Harry the important information, is dead? Idea: the pensieve. Do you think that DD will have 'left' the pensieve to Harry? And will it contain more memories with more information for Harry? -------------------- "Her-my-oh-knee..."
