Elzora- Featured Artist For April 07, *portraits and more*

Junk Shop Organizer Posts: 2,631 Joined: 2:40pm January 28, 2006 Location: mourning Snape	This month's Featured Artist is Elzora, whose Hogwarts Employee Series belongs - judging by the huge amount of comments - among the visitors' favourite fanarts. Going through Leaky's FanArt Gallery, it is easy to notice that many fanartists have chosen the Hogwarts Staff for the topic of their artwork. Professor Snape, Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall are favourite subjects. Wonderful montage by Hagiographer13! Professor Dumbledore appearance in PS: "Tall, thin and very old judging by the silver of his hair and beard which were long enough to tuck into his belt. His blue eyes were light, bright and sparkling behind half-moon spectacles." Hagrid is described in PS being "almost twice as tall as normal men - long tangles of bushy back hair and beard were hiding most of his face." Professor McGonagall's appearance: Her hair is black and she wears it pulled back into a bun. She usually wears emerald green robes. Professor Snape has in canon "greasy black hair, a hooked nose and sallow skin. His black eyes are cold and empty." Elzora, however, has portrayed not only the major characters but also those staff members who we haven't met that much in the books - for example Septima Vector, the Arithmancy teacher: You can check out Elzora's other works - all 21 Hogwarts staff portrait - here. Hogsmeade's Butcher Posts: 6,454 Joined: 1:25pm July 10, 2005 Location: Sharpening my cleaver for photo-chopping	I really appreciate how Elzora has done portraits of characters that we only have heard passing references to, or will probably never see in the films. Check out her Professor Sinistra! But even the characters that have been translated to the films, and thus influence some FanArtists, Elzora stays true to her vision, like in this awesome image of Professor Flitwick-- Wonderful images! My favourite would have to be Lupin, that just fits him to a tee! Yes, Hagiographer13, it's fantastic that Elzora has drawn characters that are barely mentioned in the series, always nice to give minor characters some love. Props to you Elzora -------------------- Hermione was watching Ron fret over the fate of the Cattermoles, and there was such tenderness in her expression that Harry felt almost as if he had surprised her in the act of kissing him.-Ron and Hermione Weasley forever

They're so vivid and creative and they're all so different, I mean Flitwick is spectacular and the backdrop is so beautiful and then you look at Umbridge and the background is all poppy and pretty, theyre just all so original and special and... yeah I'm running out of suitable adjectives. I love her work --------------------

Hiding in the Iron Maiden at Borgin and Burkes Posts: 321 Joined: 11:55am July 21, 2005 Location: Constantly fluctuating.	Yes! I just saw these yesterday when I noticed she was the featured artist. I really love them. It's great that there are all in similar poses, yet each one is distinct from the other. I can imagine them coming to life and moving around like on the Chocolate Frog cards. I was pleased to see that she has a a clear picture of the characters in her head that is only occassionally influenced by the movies-though that may be partly coincidence. My favorite is Madam Hooch.

This is going to sound odd, but one of my favourite potrayals in the Hogwarts Employee Series is actually Fawkes, in the Dumbledore picture. He's not the main focus of the image but he looks so regal and... well... magical. All of these pictures are fantastic. -------------------- PS: I do hope we've put enough stamps on

Very much as I had imagined the Horror of Hogwarts when I read the book. Plus, kudos for including her tiny wand, which always cracks me up when I read OotP. Tiny and utterly awful!
