As we know Emma Watson landed the role of Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films eight years ago. Over the years we have seen her grow into her role and become a clever, beautiful and vivacious young woman, and last month she achieved straight As in her A-Levels and has recently expressed her desire to study at university after filming has completed on the Potter franchise. smile.gif

In 2007 Emma expanded her acting repetoire by appearing in the BBC adaptation of Noel Streathfeild's novel Ballet Shoes as one of the talented orphan children Pauline Fossil, also starring fellow HP actors Richard Griffiths (Great Uncle Matthew) and Gemma Jones (Dr Jakes).

Emma has also been an avid follower of fashion appearing in many photo shoots over the years and fronting new designer frocks at events, in particular for Chanel for which she has signed a contract recently.

I thought she was pretty good in Ballet shoes, I mean girly flics aren't normally my thing but I enjoyed this for what it was a bbc drama. The only thing that I found is that its still really hard to disassociate yourself with Hermione Granger, I think it was because her mannerisms show through and she's been entrenched with one particular character for so long. It was a very good christmas viewing smile.gif.

As mentioned on TLC Main Emma was in Paris for Fashion Week to see the Spring/Summer 2009 shows and was invited to a number of couture showings including Yves Saint Laurent, Dior and Chanel. smile.gif As always Emma exudes style in whatever she wears.

Some of my favourite pictures of Emma were from the photo-shoot she did for InStyle magazine earlier this year with a fab-50s theme --

Yet, as lovely and talented as Emma Watson is, the main reason I think she is a fantastic role-model for young women today is her firm committment to her education. In a recent interview with The Telegraph she elaborated on her decision to focus on school, post-Potter --
QUOTE
"I would like to go to university and complete a degree and so that will mean a break from acting," Miss Watson, who has made more than £10 million thus far from the Harry Potter franchise, told The Telegraph.

"I've always tried to balance my education with my acting career, but I just don't think it will be possible to juggle it with a degree course. I have a need now to study."

The actress, who was first cast as Hermione Granger at the age of nine and was educated at Headington School in Oxford, is currently on a gap year before starting university either in this country or the United States.

"There are excellent universities over there and I'm applying at the moment," she said. "If I stay in this country I will read English Literature, and if I go to America I would do a Liberal Arts programme."

After she completes work on the last Harry Potter film, of which there are two parts, Miss Watson has no further acting commitments scheduled. Her spokesman denied she is giving up acting for good but confirmed that "any future projects will take second place to University. Her first commitment will be to her course"

I would imagine that her modelling may be somewhat easier to reconcile with a full-time course of study, so even as she plans on focussing more on the books than the silver screen, I think we will still be seeing her lovely face for some time to come. smile.gif

As noted on TLC Main, Emma is featured on the cover of and in a short interview in the November issue of Flare magazine --

In the interview she mentions how WB has been very supportive of her choices and extra-Potter activites, and that she has relied heavily upon her friendship with Dan Radcliffe and Rupert Grint to help see her through growing up surrounded by publicity.

QUOTE
"I have a lot of guy friends. I love that I always know where I stand with them." Although destined to headline with Radcliffe and Grint for another two years, she's aware that her life as she knows it is shifting. "I am in a transitional period in a lot of different ways. I am changing and making lots of decisions about my future. It's a very exciting and slightly scary time."

It will be interesting indeed to see how her decisions play out. And you can bet the whole Potter-world will be watching. smile.gif

I love Emma! I love who she is as a person and an actor. She is a really great actor and she plays Hermione really well, but her personality is what really makes me like her. She is very smart and she always works hard. She balances HP films, other films, and school all at the same time. Her style really impresses me. She is conservative yet very stylish. She also presents herself so well! She comes of as a very polished, professional, young women!

If I had to pick a favorite photo shoot it would be when Emma was on the cover of Teen Vogue back in 2005 (Link here). It also had an article all about her and some photos of her inside. I know that that shoot was awhile ago but it is my favorite. I remember getting the magazine and seeing her on the cover. It was a great day. I still have the magazine just because she is on the cover. I also like any other time the Emma was in Teen Vogue because I used to get that magazine and it was fun to see her in it. smile.gif

Emma has a natural beauty. You don't really see that too much in Hollywood, imo. She's just a very pretty girl and she knows how to take pictures. There's not one picture I've seen where she looks bad, aside from the red lipstick.

I have not seen her in anything aside from the Harry Potter movies so I cannot really comment on her acting, but I am not one of those that think she does bad in Harry Potter. She has her own style and has really made Hermione her own in the movies. I think she's doing a great job.

I applaud that she wants to put her education first. You don't see that all the time with celebrities. She could go on and have a good acting career, I assume, but she'd rather get an education. She really is right for the role of Hermione Granger!
