After Louisa's injury in Lyme, Austen says of Anne "Without emulating the feelings of an Emma towards her Henry, she would have attended on Louisa with a real zeal above the common claims of regard, for his sake".
Who are Emma and Henry? My first thought was towards Emma Dashwood, but Mr Knightley's first name was John so I threw that explanation out. So, can anyone explain the reference to Emma and Henry? Or do you have other questions about the text? Perhaps questions about culture at the time the book was written, or historical references or, in fact, anything else connected to the book or the time in which it was set. -------------------- ![]() March's Book Nook: The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge/Skellig by David Almond "THEN YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED!" roared Black.
