I like that the last line of the book(and series) was "All was well" which can lead the reader to make his/her own assumptions about what that means for everything not mentioned by Ms. Rowling. It leads us to create our own little happy ending for everyone, and ends(for the first time) on a fully happy note.
Also it was great to see Draco being able to show his face in public and not be tormented by his past, I believe it shows he is a better man that his father was(or is? i forget did Lucius die?) |

I liked it, at first I thought it was to short, but it grew on me and it really summed up well, it tells us the trio are grown up and happy, that they have their own kids and are leading relatively normal lives. Its neat and a happy ending which Harry deserved after so long!
There were things I wanted to know, like their jobs etc, but Jo has since cleared all that up, it would have taken a lot longer to slip all that info into the epilogue. -------------------- You're only young once; you can be immature forever. Proud member of M.A.F.I.A.!!! And S.Q.U.E.E. |

i liked the epilogue. i just wish it was longer. that we find out more about the quartet's life after DH. Oh well that is why Jo's given many interviews to fill in this information. If the epilogue and given us every bit of information that had happened, the book would have been another hundred pages long, which would have been great for fans, but not for the telling of the story. The epilogue is supposed to be the smallest glimpse through the fog at the characters grown up; not to give us a great amount of information as to what's happened to them, but simply to show the reader that they are alright, and life has moved on. The rest of the tidbits that we all want to know from fan perspective will be in the encyclopedia that I hope to Merlin JKR writes. -------------------- "The Patronus is a kind of positive force, a projection of the very things that a dementor feeds upon-
hope, happiness, the desire to survive--but it cannot feel despair, as real humans can, so the dementors can't hurt it." ~Remus J. Lupin |

i wish there was more information though not too much as to reach another hundred pages or so. i was satisfied with the epilogue knowing that it ended well and the characters are alright and has moved on. however, it would really be cool to get a glimpse how life was for the the others like luna, neville, george, etc. after 19 years.

I can't really make up my mind how I feel about the epilogue. On one hand, I'm glad we got to find out that Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione ended up together and I'm glad to know the names of their kids. I'm glad Harry finally got what he wanted- a family, and a normal existence. On the other hand, I thought it was too short and too sappy. It felt like too much time was spent on Harry's kids-I want to know about our favorite characters, not some annoying little kids! What happened to Luna? Or Dean and Seamus? Or George? Who's headmaster or headmistress of Hogwarts? Who's Minister of Magic? I know JK Rowling knows exactly what happened to her characters, but it's sort of irritating how she gets to know their fates and we don't. What are Harry, Ginny, Ron, Hermione, and Draco's careers? I'd be really disappointed if Hermione just became a housewife. She should be in the Ministry or Headmistress of Hogwarts! Basically, I thought the epilogue didn't give enough information, and gave too much information about people I don't care about.

My first thought after reading the epilogue was that it was too short and I want more.. but isn't every HP fan like that? And then I thought that the Epilogue was pretty good; not too short and not too long. Personally, it featured everything that I wanted answered.

I think even if it was a hundred more pages we would still think there was stuff we wanted in it

Even though it started out as children books (which I can't completly agree with) it ended very dark with character's dieing, etc. ... This is exactly what I liked about the HP books. They 'grow' with you. Kids started reading them when they were younger, and as they grew, so did the material. They didn't give up on them because they were 'little kid books', because they weren't any more. As for the epilogue, I totally agree that I wanted more, but also that it would have never been enough. I didn't start reading the books until all 7 were released. I read them all in less than 3 weeks: on my walk to work, in between customers, my breaks, my walk home, my time home...my boyfriend was not happy that he went almost a month without being able to see me without a book in my face! Once it was over, there was a big gap in my life, so I read them again...and I still read them! Rowling could have written an entire book out of the epilogue, and once I finished it, I'd still have been disappointed. I just can't get enough of it! -------------------- ~"People fear most that which they do not understand."~

If Jo writes another series to continue that epilogue; after finishing it, we just can't get enough. -------------------- "There are all kinds of courage.
