This was one of my favorites when I was a kid. Sadly, I can't seem to find another person who's read it. Anyone?

No one at all? This is very sad. It's a very good book! I recommend it highly.

Yeah, I loved that book! I read it many years ago after hearing part of it on Jackanory - a TV programme that had a reading of a book every day. (A week a book). It's funny many moons ago I mentioned this before on this thread and I didn't get much response either. I really loved the gargoyles!

Yes, the gargoyles were very awesome. I really liked the whole colored snow concept.

I've read it! Haven't thought about it in a long time, nor can I recall exactly where I picked it up, but it's definitely a solid little story about an independent girl with untapped talent. Isn't Lynne Reid Banks author of The Indian in the Cupboard?

Yeah, I think that and its companion books are her most famous. I can't understand why Farthest Away Mountain doesn't get a bit more credit.

I have read the farthest away mountain, my favorite things are the colored snow, the house with no doors, and the garden statue that comes to life . i am trying to find a copy but it is hard to find or is really expensive.
