I was visiting the Dream Vacations thread and thought we should have one for the best vacation you've been on. So what was your favorite trip (or trips)? Please tell!
For me it would have to be when I went camping last week. My mom, one of my sisters, my brother and I decided to go camping up at Laurel Hill State Park in Pennsylvania while two of my sisters were at camp and my dad was out of town on a business trip. We figured if we stayed in PA instead of driving 5 hours to where we live we wouldn't have to drive that distance 4 times in order to pick them up or if one of them got injured we would be near enough to help. As my mom was booking a tent site online she came across something talking about cabins. OUt of mere curiosity, she clicked on the link and found out that the park had cabins where we could stay for about $10 more than if we took our tent like we'd planned. So, we made the reservations for the cabin. When we got there it looked so cute nestled in the trees with the mountains rising up in the background. Inside were two rooms, a bedroom with two bunk beds, and a room that we just put our bags in. It even had a screened in porch that was bout as big as the interior itself. Needles to say, all of us were pleased. The next afternoon our relatives who lived about an hour away came to visit us. They liked it so much that the next night they rented a cabin right next to ours. My cousin had my read Harry Potter aloud to him, which was a lot of fun for me because I was the only one who knew what would happen. smile.gif The fourth day we were camping it rained all day and we were joking about how lucky it was we didn't have the tent because it would have collapsed, as has happened every other year we went camping. The next day, it rained on and off all day again so we went over to Seven Springs and swam in the pool there. After it stopped raining, we played volleyball but since we didn't play by the rules, it was a lot more exciting. A bunch of the kids from other campsites came over and played with us until it got too dark and foggy to see the ball. That night since the logs were completely soaked we ordered a pizza for dinner instead of cooking over the fire. The next day, however, was perfect. Sadly, it was the last day. We played volleyball again, burned all the logs we had left, ate s'mores and drank a bottle of soda at 7 Am (our parents weren't up of course ;) ), and then roasted hot dogs over the fire. Overall, it was the best vacation I've ever been on despite the 1/2 mile hike to the bathroom, which, in the middle of the night was impossible to make. biggrin.gif

I have two favorite vacations that are tied. The first one was when a group of juniors and seniors (I was a senior) went to London and Paris for spring break. It was six years ago this past April. It was so much fun. Our tour guide was this awesome English man named John and I just adored him. We had to do the quick tourist thing, but I'll never forget it. We went to Stonehenge and Versailles; one day some friends and I went to the Eiffel Tower and fed the birds under it. I didn't go to the top because I'm terrified of heights, but I sent a friend up with my camera so he could take pictures for me. They turned out really good; he took pictures for the yearbook. That day we also visited the French Army Museum (the boys outweighed the girls, 3-2). Leslie and I giggled at certain bits of the armor, or rather, certain missing bits of the armor. That same day I dragged them all to Jim Morrison's grave. I'm a bit of a Doors fan. The night I got back, though, I made my parents stop at Taco Bell on the way home because I was taco-less for seven days. That's horrible when you're seventeen years old. lol.gif Also, I had a British accent for about a month.

The second vacation was one I took a couple of summers ago with three friends to Savannah, GA. We spent four days there and went to the beach all but one of those days. The day we didn't go, we went window shopping and explored the town. We found this antique shop that had this beautiful white grand piano (with real ivory keys) that the lady let me play. It was so much fun. One night, my friend Melissa and I couldn't sleep, so we went out on the balcony and played UNO so as not to disturbed the other two. It was a nice and relaxing vacation where there was no pressure to be anywhere at any certain time. I almost forgot about the taffy shop! There is a line of shops on the bank in town and one of them was a candy shop. We got to watch them make taffy. It was so cool. If you've ever seen Rachel Ray's $40 a day on the Food Network when she goes to Savannah, I think she goes into that same shop and she went to Tybee Island, which is the beach we went to. Speaking of the beach, we buried the only guy on the trip in the sand and sculpted the sand to look like he was a mermaid and got a picture! lol.gif That vacation was so cool that I didn't even mind much when I got stung by a jellyfish; a little sand on it for about twenty minutes took the pain away.

" [Rupert] really has made [Malachy] his own. He's just such a fine film actor. [...] He knows just how much and how little to do - there are wonderful moments of stillness in his performance in Cherrybomb, for all the wildness and energy of the world around him. He's very subtle and expressive." - Daragh Carville, screenwriter of Cherrybomb

Mine was San diego. Not far away, but amazing. We went to the Wild Animal Park and the zoo, which were both totally awe-inspiring.

We went to this farm once, that worked as a hotel for a few days and it was so peaceful and such a great way to escape all the problems that were going on at the time... there was this one time though that was really funny. My mum and I were returning to our rooms at night and had to walk through some plants. I was terrified that there were spiders and asked her to walk in front of me.

"Oh honestly, stop being so scared all the time," she said and walked in front of me. Then a frog jumped somewhere close and she shriked and ran behind me, pushing me to move quickly. thumbup.gif it was hillarious!

The other one is the first time I went to Cornwall to stay at my great aunt's house. It is a truly magical place over there and so peaceful and cut off the village where she lives that it feels like a dream sometimes.

My favourite holiday was when I went to Egypt 2 years ago. When I stood on the balcony and saw Valley of The Kings I cried! It's a place that I had always wanted to go. Even now I find it hard to believe that I actulally touched something that was a couple of thousands years old!! surprise.gif

Might sound funny, but I don't need to go across borders... when I'm on holliday in a different country I often miss my friends and my social life here. I like going away with my family but it gets boring quite quickly.
So, my favorite trips are those trips in summer to amusement parks, or a day spent with my friends at the beach... I'm actually having the best summer as we speak, because we're doing a lot of things togethers. I seem to have the perfect friends circle right now, we do loads of fun trips and I love it.

My favourite vacation was to Sweden with my parents and a friend. It was so pretty and everyone was so relaxed - I totally fell in love with that country. We had rented a little house near a lake with a HUGE garden and every day my friend and I would canoe out onto the lake!

btw.:did you notice that about half of the swedish football team was very very attractive? (just ignore that, if you would)

I like this thread!
My family always spent almost all the available money on holidays, and I'm so greatful! Travelling is the best thing to do with your money (apart from donating it or something)!

like Miss Dobby I was absolutely STUNNED by Egypts beauty and history and fairytale atmosphere. Same goes for Ireland, even though it is completely different. I loved Malaysia for its beatuiful "exoticness" and the fact that muslims, buddhists, hindus and christians live tigether quite peacefully.
I loved California for its vastness and great landscapes.
I loved Australia -for being Australia, I guess, for the Great Barrier Reef, for being there on my own for six months and meeting all those cool and fantastic and interesting people.
I love SPain and spend my summervacations in Andalucia every now and then. Especially in the mountains.

But the best vacations was going to England for 5 days to meet my boyfriends parents on chistmas last year!
I think the best vacations are those were you meet lovely people and can relax entirely from everyday life, and it doesn't have to be far away or expensve or anything.

9 days in French Polynesia. I'd sell everything, including my partner to move to the South Pacific. Well, ok, everything but the HP books and Huckleberry Finn.
