Fantastic - I'm a big fan of black (is it black or is that just the photo) and red. The jewels look lovely. Did you get them to re-stick in well?

Oooh, Mary! Very cool! Be sure to tell us how you were able to re-stick your jewels in the progress thread!

I'll post these pictures in the Finished section even though I am not happy with the paint job and may redo it all over again. But knowing me that will be three years from now, so for the moment it is "finished".

As I explained in the progress section, the square handle has the words Sötétnő and Hollóhát inscribed on it. Sötétnő being my username and Hollóhát being the word used in the Hungarian translations of HP for Ravenclaw.

We have vines entwined around the length of the wand and a few roses at various places. I shaved the end off with a knife to make it pointed.

I actually wanted the wand to look wood-coloured but instead it looks purple and brown which is what I am unhappy about. I though about using stain but wasn't sure how it would go on the modelling clay so opted for paint. Very happy with the gold knob at the end though. The colours are most true to life in the third picture.

Click on the little pictures here for larger shots with more detail.

Edited for spelling

It came out lovely. clap2.gif

Very original. I wanted a pointed end also, what did you use to shave the end with?

That is AWE. SOME!!! So much detail! clap.gif

You could probably do a diluted stain or diluted paint to dim everything down, but I could see why you might refrain for fear of ruining your work. Sometimes crafting is completely hit or miss.

For the shaving off the end I just VERY CAREFULLY used a Stanley knife (hmmm not sure if that's what they are called in the US...Box cutter maybe...one of these ). Sharp knife basically.

*hangs head in shame*

Appallingly late (as per usual)....and not at ALL up to my usual standards for crafting.

But I wanted to avoid another howler from Quietish...

I was going for an artistic look so you can't see my horrible wand making skills. Ollivander isn't going to hire me as an apprentice anytime soon.
